Load mobile pages faster with Web Light

When you go to a page on mobile from search results, Web Light can convert and optimize the page to keep relevant content and use less of your mobile data.

With Web Light, you can:

  • Load pages faster on a slow internet connection.
  • View a simpler version of a page or choose to load the original content.
  • Use less mobile data when you search on Google.

Web Light availability

  • This feature is available on Android phones in the Google app  and Google Go app Google Go.
  • This feature is available on KaiOS phones.
  • Web Light isn’t available in all countries.

Choose when to load pages with Web Light

When you search on the Google app, you can choose when to load a Web Light version of a page if it’s available.

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google app .
  2. Go to google.com/preferences.
  3. Under “Optimize pages for faster loading,” choose when to load pages with Web Light.
  4. Scroll and tap Save.

Tip: To go to the original page from the Web Light version, at the top, tap View original.

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google app .
  2. Go to google.com/preferences.
  3. Under “Optimize pages for faster loading,” tap Never.
  4. Scroll and tap Save.
In the Google Go app
Tip: To go to the original page, next to "LITE," tap Remove Remove.
  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Go app Google Go.
  2. At the top right, tap Settings Settings.
  3. Under “Data,” turn off Use Lite mode.
On KaiOS phones
  1. Go to google.com/preferences.
  2. Under “Optimize pages for faster loading,” tap Never.
  3. Scroll and tap Save.
