Add & customize your Search widget

Search for info with Google app widget on your Home screen.

You can customize the shortcuts, color, and transparency of the Search widget on your Android phone or tablet.

Add the Google app widget to your home screen

Add from the Google app

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open your Google app .
2. At the top right, tap your Profile picture or Initial Settings Customize Search widget.
3. At the top right, tap Add.

Add from the Widgets menu

1. On an empty part of your homescreen, touch and hold.
2. Tap Widgets.
3. To find Google, search or scroll.
4. Touch and hold, then drag the Google widget.

Customize your Search widget 

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open your Google app .
2. At the top right, tap your Profile picture or Initial Settings Customize Search widget.
3. Below the preview, tap the icons to customize the:
   1. Shortcuts
   2. Color
   3. Transparency of your widget

Add shortcuts to quickly search for a song, translate text, check the weather, and more.

4. Once you leave the “Settings” page, your customization settings will be saved automatically.

Tip: If you want to return your widget to its previous look, at the top right, tap Reset.

Remove the Search widget

You can remove the Search widget from your phone or tablet. Learn how to remove an app, shortcut, widget, or group.

If you're on an older device, you can’t remove the Search widget from your phone or tablet.
