Open web pages inside the Google app

When you search the web using the Google app on your Android phone, you can open web pages without switching to a browser. This means you can:

  • Open search result links faster
  • Stay in the Google app
  • Copy or share a link, re-open a link in your browser, and more 

Open web pages in the app

  1. Open the Google app Google Search.
  2. Do a search.
  3. Tap a search result link.
  4. A web page will open inside the Google app.
  5. From here you can:
    • Share link: To share the link via Gmail, Android Messages, or other apps on your device, tap More More and then Share link.
    • Copy link: Tap More More and then Copy link. Then paste the link wherever you'd like.
    • Open in browser: Tap More More and then Open in browser or Open in Chrome. After you open the link in a browser, you can see other browser features like bookmarks.
    • Save a page: To save the page to your favorites, tap Save Save. Learn how to find your saved items.

Turn "Open web pages in app" on or off

To turn this feature on or off:

  1. Open the Google app Google Search.
  2. At the bottom right, tap Menu Menu and then Settings and then Accounts & privacy.
  3. Next to "Open web pages in the Google app," turn the switch on or off.
