Share your commute

You can share your commute with your friends and family from the Google app to let them know when you're heading home from work and if you'll be late getting home. Your friends and family will see updates about your commute as Google Now cards.

First, turn commute sharing on or off

  1. Open the Google app .
  2. In the top left corner of the page, touch the Menu icon menu icon.
  3. Touch Settings > Accounts & privacy > Commute sharing.
  4. Turn "Let them see your commute updates" to on or off.

Next, choose who to share your commute with

  1. Open the Google app .
  2. In the top left corner of the page, touch the Menu icon menu icon.
  3. Touch Settings > Accounts & privacy > Commute sharing.
  4. Touch Choose who can see your location using Google+ sharing. This will take you to the Google+ app.
  5. Under "Pinpoint location," touch Choose people to share with. On this page, you can either choose specific people or circles.
  6. Touch Done.

Your friends and family will see updates about your commute as Google Now cards.

What information is shared when you share your commute

The people or circles you share your commute with are notified:

  • If you're still at work
  • When you leave work
  • When you arrive home

Stop getting updates about other people's commutes

If one of your Google+ connections shared their commute with you and you don't want to see it anymore, you can change the card’s settings. In the right corner above the card, touch the Menu icon now card menu icon.
