If you’re eligible for and interested in Search Labs, you can join the waitlist through the Labs icon . Search Labs is a program for people to experiment with early-stage Google Search experiences and share feedback. Labs experiments, including AI-powered experiences, are in early development and available in the Google app on Android phones and iPhones and in Chrome on desktop. Quality and availability may vary.
What you need
- Chrome browser
. Download Chrome.
- Be 18 years or older.
- Personal Google Account. You can’t use a Google Workspace account.
Important: Currently, Search Labs is available to a limited number of people in the US and in English only.
Sign up for Search Labs
- On your computer, open Chrome

- Make sure you’re signed in to your Google Account with Incognito mode turned off.
- At the top of the browser, click New tab
.
- At the top right of the page, click the Labs icon
.
- If you don’t find the Labs icon
, it’s currently not available to you. Learn more about Search Labs availability.
- If you don’t find the Labs icon
- Click Join Waitlist. You’ll get an email notification when experiments are ready for you.
Tip: To check if experiments are ready for you, tap Labs icon . If you don’t find the option to start experimenting, try again later.
If you're on the waitlist for Search Labs and changed your mind, you can let us know.
- On your computer, open Chrome

What happens after I join the waitlist for Search Labs?
If you’re on the waitlist for Search Labs and experiments are ready for you, we’ll notify you based on how you joined the waitlist.
- If you joined the waitlist through the Google app on your Android phone or iPhone, we’ll notify you by email if you opted in to receive email updates about Search Labs and send a notification from the Google app if you have notifications turned on.
- If you joined the waitlist through Chrome on desktop, we’ll notify you by email if you opted in to receive email updates about Search Labs.
When you get access to Search Labs, you’ll be able to choose which experiments you want to turn on. You’ll be able to turn them off and on at any time, and you’ll also have the opportunity to provide feedback.
If you joined the waitlist for Search Labs and changed your mind, you can leave the waitlist.
How long will I have to wait?
The amount of time you'll wait may vary.
When will Search Labs be available in my country?
While we can’t share exact dates for when Search Labs will be available in other countries, we hope to expand outside the US soon.
