Search with an image on Google

You can learn more about an image or the objects around you with Google Lens. For example, you can take a photo of a plant and use it to search for info or other similar images.

What you find when you search

Your results can include:

• Search results for objects in the image
• Similar images
• Websites with the image or a similar image

What you need

• The latest version of the Google app
  • Learn how to install Google app on iPhone & iPad.
• Chrome app

Tip:

To search with your camera, voice, and more, download the Google App.

Search with an image from search results

1. On your iPhone or iPad, go to Google.com.
2. Search for an image.
3. Select an image.
4. At the bottom left, tap Google Lens .

Search with an image from a website

Important: To search with a website image in the Chrome app, make Google your default search engine.

1. On your iPad or iPhone, go to the Google app or Chrome app .
2. Go to the website with the image.
3. Touch and hold the image.
4. For these apps:
   • Google app : Tap Search inside image .
   • Chrome app : Tap Search image with Google .
5. At the bottom, scroll to find related search results.
6. To refine your search, tap Add to your search.
   • Tip: This option is only available in the Google app .
7. Enter keywords.

Search with an image from your device

1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google app , Chrome app , or the Safari app.
2. You can either:
   1. In the search bar, tap Google Lens .
   2. From your camera roll, search for a photo.
3. Take or upload a photo:
   • To take a photo: Point to an object with your camera and tap Search .
     1. To ask a question about the object with your voice, press and hold the Shutter button .
     2. This is available only for English queries.
   • To upload an existing image:
     1. Tap Photo picker .
     2. Select a photo.
4. Select how you want to search:
   • Use part of an image:
     1. Tap the image.
     2. Drag the corners of the box around your selection.
     3. At the bottom, scroll to find your search results.
5. To refine your search, tap Add to your search.
   • Tip: This option is only available in the Google app .
6. Enter keywords.

Tip: To get more specific results, select a smaller area on the image.

Control access to Photos

On your device, you can adjust the access to your saved images.

1. On your iPhone or iPad, open Settings.
2. Tap Google Photos.
3. Select:
   • None
   • Limited access
   • Full access
