Read pages in the Google app

With Read Aloud, you can turn page text into speech. Read Aloud is available in the Google app for iPhones or iPads.

Important: This feature isn’t available on all sites. 

Listen to a page or add it to your queue

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google app Google app.
  2. Search for what you want to read.
  3. Tap the search result you want.
  4. At the top right, tap More More and then tap Read Aloud .
  5. Select an option:
    • Listen now Play
      • At the bottom, use the media player to:
        • Pause
        • Skip back
        • Skip forward
    • Add to queue Add to playlist
      • To open your queue, in the media player, tap List .
      • To exit from Read Aloud, in the media player tap the x button.

Change voice

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google app Google app.
  2. At the top right, tap your profile picture or initial and then Settings and then Voice and Assistant.
  3. Under “Read Aloud,” tap Choose voice.

Tip: You can also change voice if you tap More More in the media player.

Change speech speed

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google app Google app.
  2. To listen to a page, tap Read Aloud  and then Listen now.
  3. In the media player, tap More More and then Reading speed.
  4. Select a speed, then tap Done.
