Step count not accurate on Gen 3 fossil watch

My fossil gen3 sport is not counting most of my steps. What can I do?

Hi Nilima,

Are you using the Google Fit app for tracking your steps or another app pre-loaded on the watch?

Thanks,
John

I just walked two dogs approximately 6-7 blocks and my watch shows ZERO steps and zero active minutes. This is super annoying.

I have had the fossil smartwatch for over a year now.  The distance is always way off.  It always records less miles than I walk.  For instance today, google maps showed a distance walked of 3.6 miles.  My watch showed 2.8.  It has always been like this.  Is there anything that can be reset?

My fossil watch counts too many steps ?? I usually do around 15,000 a day and it’s recording over 24 ??

not the only one with TOO MANY steps I see (Angela Midgley)....as of this past weekend, I'm hitting 10,000 steps by mid afternoon....while at work, sitting at my desk most of the day.  Typically, with the watch, I'd have to work darn hard to hit my 10,000....and now it does it like it's nothing...curious what's changed.  Just waiving my arm around talking seems to record an incredible amount of "steps"...where a week ago I could work out for an hour (aerobics), go about my day and maybe hit 7500.  I always thought it tracked way low.....and not it's tracking mega high.....what gives?!

I'm with you Kali! Just in the past couple of weeks I've been hitting almost double what I used to on a normal work day. I wonder if there was an update that changed the algorithm?  I'm hitting 12000 on a day that before if I was lucky to break 6000.

Since 10/3/19 I'm also getting double count on my steps.

Mine has been counting steps when I don't even have it on

Mine counts 15000 steps in 2 hours of sitting at my desk at work. It is also about 3 minutes behind the time of my phone that it is supposed to be synced with.

Same problem. I put 2 watches and fitbit on the same wrist and counted steps.  Fossil Gen 4 explorist recorded 70% of the steps compared to other devices.

I agree. Mine is off with most metrics...the sleep, steps and calories are the furthest off!

i have the same problem, the Fossil FTW4004 records about 60% of my steps - I used to use a Fit bit. I actually tested my steps and found it didn't records my steps unless they made an impact. In other words it appears to be junk and it should be replaced.
