Turn on Google Assistant for your device
To use Google Assistant with Waze, you'll need to turn on Google Assistant on your phone.
Android
- On your Android phone or tablet, open Google Assistant and say “Assistant settings”
- Under "All settings" tap General. If you don’t find “General,” first tap View all settings or See all Assistant Settings.
- Turn on "Google Assistant"
iOS
- On your iPhone or iPad, touch and hold the Home button or say "OK Google" or "Hey Google."
- In the bottom right, tap .
- In the top right, tap your Profile picture or initial Settings Assistant.
- Under "Assistant devices," select your phone or tablet.
- Turn Google Assistant on or off.

- Open Waze
- Tap
- Tap Settings
- Tap Voice and sound
- Tap Google Assistant
- Tap Got it
Manage your Google Assistant settings in Waze
- Open Waze
- Tap
- Tap Settings
- Tap Voice and sound
- Tap Google Assistant and set your preferences:
- Turn on "Share current drive info" to share some of your routing information with Google Assistant. This lets you ask questions like “What’s my ETA?”
- Add or remove the Google Assistant microphone from the map by turning on or off "Show on map." Note that removing the microphone from the map does not turn off Google Assistant.
- Control when Google Assistant responds to your voice by tapping Allow “OK Google” detection

- Open Waze
- Say "Ok Google" or tap the Google Assistant microphone on the map

Ask Google Assistant to perform actions in Waze
You can ask Google Assistant to perform the following actions in Waze:
Drive actions:
- “Take me home”
- “Drive to work”
- “Navigate to” and then say the name of a business or address
- “Find gas stations”
- “Find restaurants”
- “Find parking”
- “Stop navigation”
- “Show alternate routes”
- “Show route overview”
- “Show turn-by-turn directions”
- “Recenter the map”
Reporting actions:
- “Report traffic”
- “Report [moderate, heavy, standstill] traffic”
- “Report a crash”
- “Report a [major, minor] crash”
- “Report police”
- “Report hazard”
- “Report flood”
- “Report construction”
- “Report object”
- “Report broken traffic light”
- “Report pothole”
- “Report stopped vehicle”
- "Report stopped vehicle on shoulder"
- “Report roadkill”
- “Report animal”
- “Report missing sign”
- “Report fog”
- “Report hail”
- “Report flood”
- “Report ice”
Settings actions:
- “Turn on or off voice directions” (affects Waze voice navigation directions only)
- “Allow or avoid tolls”

Note: Waze must be open on your screen to use the actions above.
Routing actions:
- “What’s my ETA?”
Note: Routing actions are only available if you allow Waze to share your routing information with Google Assistant:
- Open Waze
- Tap
- Tap Settings
- Tap Voice and sound
- Tap Google Assistant
- Turn on "Share current drive info"
When this setting is turned off, your routing information is not shared.

Manage your Google Assistant actions in Waze
You can see and delete your past Google Assistant actions in Waze on your Assistant Activity page. To do this, you need to be signed in to your Google account and enable Web and App Activity.
Information shared with Google Assistant
You can allow Waze to share some of your routing information with Google Assistant:
- Open Waze
- Tap
- Tap Settings
- Tap Voice and sound
- Tap Google Assistant
- Turn on "Share current drive info"
Once turned on, you can ask Google Assistant routing-related questions like “What’s my ETA?”
When turned off, your routing information is not shared with Google Assistant. If you say “Take me home” or “Drive to work,” Waze does not share your home or work address with Google Assistant.
