Waymo supports riders with accessibility needs through our wheelchair-accessible vehicle (WAV) service, accessibility options within the Waymo One app, and service animal policy. Riders can access WAVs (driven manually) using the Waymo One app.
San Francisco & LA
You can request a WAV through the Waymo One app.
To request a WAV trip, follow these steps:
1. Go to your “Account” page and tap Accessibility
2. Turn on “Wheelchair accessible vehicle”
3. Tap My trip and follow the on-screen steps to request a trip
4. After selecting and reviewing your trip details, tap Request car on your WAV confirmation screen
Phoenix & Austin
We can order a WAV for you. Please call Support, and they can help you get a WAV. Go to Account > Accessibility and tap the phone icon, or go to Support > Request a callback.
Getting assistance for your WAV trip
Although you can still call Support at any time, you may also call your WAV driver directly for assistance before and during pickup. After requesting your ride, tap Call driver and follow the guided prompts to connect.
Drivers can assist you in entering and exiting the vehicle, securing your chair and person, and driving you to your destination. However, please note that drivers can’t assist you for extended periods outside the vehicle (for example, entering a hospital with you and signing you in for an appointment).
