Make card payments with a QR code (Brazil only)

For some merchants, you can make card payments with a QR code.

Pay with a QR code

  1. Open the Google Wallet app .
  2. Tap Scan QR code.
  3. Tap Turn on camera.
  4. Scan QR code provided by the merchant.
  5. Review the transaction information:
    • Merchant name
    • Transaction amount
    • Type of transaction
  6. Select a card that you want to use.
  7. To complete the payment, verify your info.

Pay in installments

Some merchants let you make payments in installments. Before making a payment, tell the merchant that you want to pay in installments and agree on the number of installments and total value before making the payment.

To pay in installments:

  1. Open the Google Wallet app .
  2. Tap Scan QR code.
  3. Scan QR code provided by the merchant.
  4. Review the transaction information and confirm installment details are correct.
  5. Select a card that you want to use.
  6. To complete the payment, verify your info.

Tips:

  • For questions about the installment payment schedule, contact the merchant.
  • For issues with the payments, a full history of installments, or if you believe you’re charged with the wrong amount, contact your card issuer.

Get a refund

If a QR code purchase is eligible for a refund, you can get the refund through QR code.

  1. Ask the merchant to generate a refund QR code.
    • Confirm with the merchant that you use the same terminal as you did for the original payment.
  2. Open the Google Wallet app .
  3. Tap Scan QR code.
  4. Scan the refund QR code.
  5. Confirm the refund’s details.
  6. Tap Request refund.
    • You’ll find confirmation or a “Refund in process” notification.

For more info on when the refund completes, ask the merchant.

Issues with refunds

If you get a “Can’t complete refund” error message, find the message below to learn more.

“Make sure you’re using the same terminal and card as your original payment”

Confirm with the merchant that you use the same terminal as you did for the original payment.

“The original payment can’t be found”

Refunds through QR code can only be completed to the same card as used for the purchase. If the original payment method isn't available, ask the merchant to try a different refund method or contact your bank.
