Record calls

Important:

• This feature operates differently based on the type of account that you have. Learn more about Google Voice account types.
• If you have a Voice Starter standalone plan, you can delete numbers in the Google Admin console. Learn how to unassign or reassign a Voice number.
• You can only use credit for long-distance and international calls and texts.
• If you have a Voice Starter subscription, you can't purchase credit. Charges for long-distance and international paid calls and texts will appear on your monthly invoice.

To make paid calls without a Google Voice subscription plan, buy credit from Google Voice.

Note: Recording calls without the consent of all call participants may not be legal in some jurisdictions.

Managed Google Workspace accounts

If you have a Google Workspace account managed by your work or school, you will need to have the appropriate Google Voice licence to record phone calls.

On-demand recording

1. When ready, tap Record.
2. Voice plays an announcement to all participants that the recording has begun.
3. Tap Stop recording to stop the recording.
4. Voice plays an announcement to all participants that recording has stopped.
   • Hanging up will also stop recording.

Automatic recording

If your Google Workspace administrator has set all calls to be recorded, Voice plays an announcement to all participants that recording has begun at the start of the call.

Personal Google Accounts

If you have a personal Google Account, not part of Google Workspace managed by your work or school, you can record an incoming call using the numbers on your phone's dial pad. 

First, turn on Voice calling options:

1. On your Android device, open the Voice app .
2. At the top left, tap the menu Settings.
3. Under Calls, turn on Incoming call recording.

Record a call

Note: All participants must be on the call before you can start recording.

1. Answer a call to your Google Voice number.
2. To start recording, tap 4. All participants will hear an announcement that the recording has begun.
3. To stop recording, tap 4. All participants will hear an announcement that the recording has ended.
   • Hanging up will also end the recording.

You can find your recordings in the Calls tab. Recordings may be downloaded to your computer from the menu at the of the call record.
