Record calls or switch phones during a call

Important: This feature isn't available for Voice for Google Workspace accounts managed by your work or school. Learn more about Google Voice account types.

During a Google Voice call, you can record the conversation or switch phones.

Note: Recording calls without the consent of all call participants may not be legal in some jurisdictions.

First, turn Voice calling options:
  1. On your Android device, open the Voice app "".
  2. At the top left, tap Menu "" and then Settings.
  3. Under Calls, turn on Incoming call options.
Record a call

Note: All participants must be on the call before you can start recording.

  1. Answer a call to your Google Voice number.
  2. To start recording, tap 4. All participants will hear an announcement that the recording has begun.
  3. To stop recording, tap 4. All participants will hear an announcement that the recording has ended.
    • Hanging up will also end the recording.

You can find your recordings in the Voicemail tab.

Switch phones during a call
  1. Answer a call to your Google Voice number.
  2. Tap the star (*). The other phones that are set up to take your Google Voice calls will ring.
  3. Answer the call on the phone that you want to use.
