Set up a voicemail greeting

You can record a custom greeting for your voicemail or use the default greeting. Record up to 10 voicemail greetings and select the one you want callers to hear.

Record a new greeting

If you don't record a new greeting, callers hear the default greeting.

  1. On your Android device, open the Google Voice app Google Voice.
  2. At the top left, tap Menu Menu and then Settings.
  3. In the "Voicemail" section, tap Voicemail greeting.
  4. Tap Record a greeting.
  5. Tap Record Record.
  6. Record your greeting, then tap Stop Stop.
  7. Choose what you want to do with the recording.
    • To listen to the recording: Tap Play Play.
    • To replace the recording: Tap Redo.
    • To save the recording: Tap Save. Enter a name for the new greeting, then tap Save.

Pick a different greeting

If you want to use a greeting you already recorded, or switch back to the default greeting:

  1. On your Android device, open the Google Voice app Google Voice.
  2. At the top left, tap Menu Menu and then Settings.
  3. In the "Voicemail" section, tap Voicemail greeting.
  4. Next to the greeting you want to use, tap More More and then Set as active.
