The Translate app lets you translate in near real time while someone speaks a different language. For example, you can translate a classroom lecture or speech.
Transcribe spoken words
You can use your Pixel Buds to get real-time translations.
Important: To use this feature, in your device settings, turn on microphone permissions for Google Translate. If you don’t get translated text, turn off Show original text.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Translate app .
- Tap Microphone Transcribe .
- If this button is disabled, the spoken language is not supported.
- Choose the languages that you want to translate to and from.
- From: At the bottom left, select the speaker's language.
- To: At the bottom right, select the translation language.
Use Transcribe
- To change your font size: In the toolbar near the mic, tap Settings .
- To toggle between the speaker's language and the translation language: In the toolbar near the mic, tap Settings .
- To stop or end a translation:
- Stop: Tap Microphone . Then, tap Stop .
- End: Tap Back .
Save your transcript
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Translate app .
- At the top right, tap Save transcript .
- To rename your transcript, remove the default name and enter a new one.
- Tap Save.
Find saved transcripts
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Translate app .
- At the top right, tap Menu Saved transcripts.
Select, copy and share your transcripts
- To select text: In the transcript screen, touch, hold and drag the text.
- To select all the text in the transcript: Tap Select all.
- To copy the selected text to the Android clipboard: Tap Copy.
- To share text to other Android apps: Tap Share.
