Use notifications for tasks

You can receive notifications for your tasks in Google Tasks, Google Calendar, and Google Assistant. If two or more apps are installed on your phone, only one app notifies you. For example, if the Tasks app isn’t installed, but you have Calendar and Assistant, then Calendar notifies you.

Tip: To get notifications, add a date and time to your task. Learn more about creating a task in the Tasks app.

Change task notifications on your phone

Use your phone to change your notification settings for tasks in the Tasks app.

If you don't have the Tasks app, you can change task notifications for Calendar and Assistant:
  1. On your Android phone, open the settings app.
  2. Tap Notifications and then App settings.
  3. In the app list, tap Tasks.
  4. Turn on or off Task notifications.

If you don’t use apps regularly, some Android phones turn off or delay notifications. To keep notifications for tasks on, give the Tasks app permissions:

  1. On your Android phone, open the settings app.
  2. Tap Apps and then Special app access and then Alarms & Reminders.
  3. In the app list, tap Tasks.
  4. Turn on Allow setting alarms and reminders.
