Product Performance revenue showing double when compared to Sales Performance in Enhanced eCommerce 0 Recommended Answers 2 Replies 0 Upvotes

When looking at my Sales Performance report in Google Analytics, I believe all of the information here is correct. However, when I look at the Product Performance report, the product revenue is always much more than the revenue displayed in the Sales Performance report.

On further investigation, it appears that the sales performance report shows:

(product price X quantity) + shipping

Example 1 attached

It appears that the product performance report shows:
product price X quantity X quantity (excluding the shipping)

Example 2 attached

If anyone could help explain why in the Product Performance report, the product is multiplied by the quantity twice , it would be very much appreciated. I suspect it is something to either do with the tags set up in GTM or the data being pulled from the datalayer.

I even ran a debug tool over a test transaction, and it appears that the sale info is only being sent across to GA once, so I don't know how / why this discrepancy is happening (screenshot also attached).

Thanks,
Kate

It should be that the data you passed is incorrect. The two data are passed in two different events.

Hi,

GA calculates "Revenue" from the transactionTotal or ecommerce.purchase.actionField.revenue keys. There's no calculation going on - if revenue is sent with the hit, it's calculated from that.

GA calculates "Product Revenue" from product price X product quantity per product in the transactionProducts / ecommerce.purchase.products array.

If there's a discrepancy, it's because your setup outputs those values differently in dataLayer. You need to audit the data as it's pushed to dataLayer, and make sure it's correct. If it's correct, then it's a variable in Google Tag Manager that does some extra calculations that's causing the divergence.
