Tag Manager and 2-step verification

Add additional security for certain Tag Manager operations.

To add additional security to a Google Tag Manager account, administrators can optionally enable 2-step verification. When this setting is enabled, Tag Manager will check if 2-step verification has been enabled on the users' account before these items can be modified:

  • Custom JavaScript variables
  • Custom HTML tags
  • User settings

To enable 2-Step verification for a Tag Manager account:

  1. Log in to Google Tag Manager with an administrator account.
  2. Click Admin.
  3. In the Account section, click Account Settings.
  4. Select Require 2-step login verification for certain operations.
  5. Click Save.
