Edit and format text and photos

This article is for the new Google Sites ("Publish" button at the top right). Get help for the classic Google Sites.

You can edit and format text in Google Sites. You can resize or crop photos and other images after you add them to your site.

Change the text on your site

Change the text style
  1. Open a site in Google Sites.
  2. Click a text box. The format bar will appear.
  3. Click the Down arrow Down Arrow.
  4. Choose the style you want. The style will be applied to the text.
Format text
  1. Open a site in Google Sites.
  2. Click a text box. The format bar will appear.
  3. To format "Normal text," you can choose:
    • Bold format Bold
    • Italic Format italic
    • Alignment Format align left
    • Numbered list Numbered list
    • Bulleted list Bulleted list
    • Insert link Insert link
    • Delete tile Trash
  4. To see these options, click More More:
    • Code font Code font
    • Strikethrough Strikethrough
    • Clear formatting Clear formatting
  5. The option will be applied to the text box.

Edit photos on your site

Resize photos
  1. Open a site in Google Sites.
  2. Click the photo you want to resize.
  3. Click a blue dot and adjust the photo to the size you want.
Crop photos
  1. Open a site in Google Sites.
  2. Click the photo you want to crop.
  3. Click Crop Crop. An "Adjust zoom" box will appear.
  4. To zoom in or out, drag the blue dot in the "Adjust zoom" box.
  5. Drag the photo to move it around the crop box.
  6. To crop the photo, click Done Done.
  7. To cancel your changes, click Undo Undo.
