Report on specific car models, geographic areas, or competitor searches

Automotive advertisers may need to create several campaigns for each car model they advertise. Some campaigns may target specific geograhic areas, while others focus on brand or competitor searches.

Business data makes it easy to see how campaigns across an advertiser contribute to promoting a specific car model. Here's an example report that uses business data to organize performance metrics:

How to set up business data to report on specific car models

Start by creating a business data table named "Car Model":

Then add a business data row for each car model you promote:

Apply rows in this table to your campaigns. Then view "Car Model.ID" on the Dimensions tab and see performance data for each car model:

Ideas for more detailed business data

Add columns to the "Car Model" table to describe each model's top competitor, market segment, and so on. Then you can see how your promotions perform when going against each competitor:

How to set up business data to report on specific car models

Start by adding columns to the "Car Model" table:

Edit each row of the Car Model table to specify data for the new columns. When you're done, the business data table will look like this:

You can add these columns at any time. That is, you could start out with just the Car Model.ID column. If you decide later you need more detail, you can add the new columns. After adding these, you could:

  • View "Car Model.Class" on the Dimensions tab and compare performance of your "Sedan" campaigns with your "Crossover" campaigns.
  • View "Car Model.Competitor" on the Dimensions tab, then segment by "Car Model.ID" to see how all competitors for each model perform:
