Unlink a client account

Only a manager admin or sub-manager admin can change the status of a client account in the new Search Ads 360.
Be aware: Unlinking an account will permanently remove conversion data and access to its linked account data.

In new Search Ads 360, a client account can be unlinked. Unlinking indicates that all activity for the account is permanently stopped. After you unlink an account, it can't be reactivated again, but you can link the client account again in the sub-manager.

Follow these steps to unlink a client account.

  1. Sign in to your Search Ads 360 account.
  2. Navigate to a sub-manager or client account.
  3. From the page menu on the left, click Settings, then click Sub-account settings at the top of the page.
  4. Select the accounts you want to unlink.
  5. Click Edit, then Unlink from the dropdown.

On the next page, you’ll see a preview of how your accounts will be affected by the unlinking action. After you’ve reviewed the changes, click Unlink.

  1. You'll receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the link to the specific account.
  2. After it's unlinked, all linked conversion data from the specific account will be permanently removed and unrecoverable. This includes:
    1. The specific account will lose access to this Search Ads 360 sub-manager or client account.
    2. Search Ads 360 will stop processing new conversions, and existing unlinked conversions will be lost.
    3. Search Ads 360 portfolio bid strategies will no longer be available.
    4. Labels, custom dimensions, and other Search Ads 360-specific reporting data will be removed from the specific account.

What happens when an account is unlinked

You may want to unlink a client account when you no longer manage it. Unlinking a client account means that Search Ads 360 no longer performs trafficking and syncing.

When an account is unlinked:

  • Search Ads 360 will stop reporting on advertising platform data.
  • The client account will no longer be accessible in new Search Ads 360 for campaign management or reporting.
  • Conversion actions managed by new Search Ads 360 will stop processing new conversions and existing conversions that are not shared with their respective client accounts may be lost. This includes removal from event-level reports (although they may still be available in Campaign Manager 360).
  • The new Search Ads 360 bidding portfolios will no longer be available to client account entities.
  • Labels, custom dimensions, and other data specific to new Search Ads 360 will be removed from client account entities.
While you cannot resume an account when it's removed, if you also complete the steps to offboard the account from new Search Ads 360, you can add the account to the same sub-manager again, or to a different sub-manager. When you add the account, new clickserver URLs will be generated for the account and trafficked to the advertising platform which will result in new visits and conversions being reported to the account.
