Floodlight conversion action and Adobe Analytics metrics

Search Ads 360 automatically creates a Floodlight conversion action for each metric that you add from a report suite. The name of the Floodlight conversion action exactly matches the name that you specify when you add the metric. You can rename these Floodlight conversion actions without affecting the collection of data from Adobe Analytics reports, formula columns, automated rules or bid strategies that refer to the conversion actions.

Floodlight conversion actions and activity groups

For each report metric that you add, Search Ads 360 creates two entities:

  • A Floodlight activity group (if it does not already exist) to contain all of the Floodlight conversion actions associated with the reporting metrics under the report suite in which this metric is being created.
    • The naming convention for Floodlight activity groups is:
      • For action report metrics:
        • name: 'Leads/other (auto-created)'
        • tag: 'auto_act'
      • For transaction report metrics:
        • name: 'Sales (auto-created)'
        • tag: 'auto_tra'
  • A Floodlight conversion action.
    • The naming convention for Floodlight conversion actions uses the same name as the user entered for the conversion name.

These values can be seen after reporting metric creation by clicking on the name of the conversion action in the table on the conversions page.

Example

  1. To report revenue from a site's shopping basket, you name the conversion action Basket purchases and select two metrics from a chosen report suite:
    • Number of purchases
    • Purchase revenue
  2. Search Ads 360 creates the following Floodlight group and activity:
    • A Floodlight group named: Sales (auto-created)
    • A Floodlight transaction activity named Basket purchases that can report both the number of purchases and the amount of revenue from the shopping basket
  3. Periodically, Search Ads 360 automatically downloads reporting data from the Adobe Analytics report suite and stores the data in the Floodlight activity that it created.
  4. To report on this metric create a custom Floodlight column that reports the conversion action for the specific Floodlight activity that Search Ads 360 created for your metric.
