Upload your files

After you've added a creative, continue to the Manage Files screen and upload the files that power your ad.

  1. In the Manage Files screen (Step 2 in the Creatives screen workflow), click Select files to locate the files for your creative. (For info on which formats to upload, see Required files).
    • File types supported for primary files: BMP, CSS, CSV, DOC, FLV, GIF, HTML5, ICS, JPEG, JPG, MP3, MP4, PDF, PNG, PPT, RA, SWF, TXT, WAV, WMA, WMP, WMV, XLS, and XML.
DoubleClick Studio allows you to use the deflate algorithm to compress SWF files but not the LZMA compression method.
    • File types supported for backup images: PNG, JPG, and GIF.

For this creative type... ...upload these assets
Any creative that uses the Loader component Parent and all child SWFs
      Expanding Collapsed and expanded SWFs
Creative with video SWF files and FLV files
All creative formats except Floating Back-up image

    • Creatives have a combined file size limit of 30 MB.
    • If you upload multiple image files, the first one is automatically assigned as the backup image.
    • You can reassign the backup image by clicking Use as backup image in the Type column.
    • For single-asset creatives, primary-asset and backup-image files are assigned automatically. (If you load a creative that contains an Enabler, the creative becomes a primary file.)
  2. Select files to upload and click Open.
You can select multiple files at once, which is the preferred method.
  3. Click on a file name in the list to see it in a preview dialog.
  4. To Edit, Copy, or Delete a creative, click the link next to the name of the creative in the header.
  5. Click Continue >> to proceed to Step 3: Edit Events.
Copy a creative

You can copy files, like SWFs and backup images, from one creative to another to speed up your workflow. The process only applies to creatives assigned to the same advertiser.

  1. In the Manage Files screen (Step 2 of the Creatives tab workflow), select the files you want to copy by checking the boxes next to their names.
  2. Click the Copy link next to the creative header.
  3. In the Copy dialog box, enter the Campaign name you want to copy to, or search for it.
  4. Enter a name for the copied creative.
  5. Click Save.
  • You can't copy a primary asset (a file with an Enabler) to a creative that already has a primary asset. For example, you can't replace a dual-asset creative, like an in-page with overlay, with a single-asset creative, like a simple in-page.
  • You can't combine SWFs that use different ActionScript versions in the same creative.
  • You can't combine SWFs published for different Flash versions in the same creative.
  • The combined size of a creative, including all files, can't exceed 30 MB.
Total file size limits

30 MB is the default total size limit in DoubleClick Studio. If you want to push creatives that exceed this limit, please contact technical support for instructions on special handling to ensure the proper delivery of your video. Combined creatives over 30 MB are probably using very large video files and may have to be hosted differently to ensure optimal performance.
