What is rich media?

A rich media display ad has images or video that encourage people to interact beyond a simple click. Rich media ads can have videos, product galleries, games, and more. All of these interactions come with rich reporting capabilities so you can understand how people interact with your ads.

Making rich media ads is more complicated than standard ads, and Studio helps simplify the process. You can use it to create, preview, test, and share your rich media ads.

What is Studio?

Studio is a web application that creative agencies can use to test, share, and deliver rich media creatives.

It has two parts: a software development kit (SDK) and a web app:

Developer documentationStudio SDK

The Studio SDK is a code library includes the Enabler, the core library that helps you add creative features and measure interactions with your ads.

  • When you build creatives with Google Web Designer the SDK is automatically included, so you don't need to add any extra code.
  • If you prefer to use other HTML editors, you can add the Enabler and use the API (application programming interface) to load files and measure performance.

Studio web app

After you've built your creatives, upload them to Studio. There, you can preview them, test that they work properly, publish them for quality assurance, and share them with your clients for review. When they're approved, send them to your client's ad server for trafficking.

To work correctly, the creatives you build with Studio must be served through Display & Video 360, Campaign Manager 360, or Google Ad Manager.
