In Gmail, why has the "empty trash" option disappeared? It use to be blue font top option.

In Gmail, I can no longer delete emails moved to the " Trash" folder. I have to use my desktop to delete them, why?

Yes, working as normal on my desktop. Just my phone, it's a Google Pixel 3a if that matters, it worked two days ago, not sure what happened, but the words "empty trash" is completely gone. When I go into my trash and click on an email I fail to find "delete" anywhere.

In the Gmail app on an Android the "empty trash" option in spam and trash, is gone now. In spam, I can click each individual message to delete, but in trash I do not see an option to delete. Before, in spam mail or what I moved to trash, at the top in blue there was an option "empty trash" what happen? Thanks
