Hey Joe, that makes me old as well!  :D

OK it didn't do anything.  At first I thought it was better but I soon saw it wasn't.  Personally, I don't think the issue the the FP sensor, it's the phone not waking up the FP sensor.  I need to press power OR double tap the screen to wake it up properly as my touch doesn't do it.

What I did:
1. Updated the driver
2. Rebooted twice afterwards. (and a few other times here and there)
3. Deleted ALL registered fingers and re-did them
4. Removed screen protector (on or off, the same including the increased sensitivity for the FP scanner)

I now enabled Watch Unlock so I can be less frustrated.  My P7P did the same but not as bad as this one.  My Galaxy S20FE was even better for the FP Sensor.

Anyways, thanks for your help Joe, too bad I couldn't continue this TC stuff but was conflicting with my work.  :)
@Joe Ellet - You have been doing this for quite a while, I was a TC back in the day Nexus/Pixel OG days and you were there!

So I have performed the driver update.  I'll give it some time before I truly say it's working.
I haven't seen a change in the response in the 30 minutes I have been using it, so not remains to see if it will react or just do nothing like it used to.  I'll be back in a week to give my full update on this issue.

The fingerprint sensor on the Pixel 8 Pro is not that great.  I try to unlock and it does nothing, you have to wake it up, even though it is already awake (at least 50% of the time).  Personally, I think it's worst that the Pixel 7 Pro.  Google needs to fix this, as many people have this issue.  It should just work as soon as you pick up your phone and press the FP scanner.  IMO sounds pretty darn simple and why ship phones if this issue is not resolved?  Frustrating AF especially for the price you pay.  Face unlock is not an option for me and should not be used as a fix.  It's a lame workaround..

Same issue here.  So had a MEET with a few people last night and this happened.
Devices: Pixel 4a, Pixel 7 and myself Pixel 7 Pro.

Pixel 4a user was seing me all blurry after a few minutes of starting the meeting.
I was seing the Pixel 7 user all blurry but the Pixel 4a user was fine.
The Pixel 7 user was seing me blurry.
When I say blurry, it almost looks off focus.

I'm direct line of site with my non-isp Wi-Fi6 router.  Tried Cellular 5G as well, same thing.

I don't have this issue with ANY old device I still have. (Pixel 3 XL, Galaxy S20 FE)
