Safety Warnings

CautionWARNING: HEALTH AND SAFETY INFORMATION; READ BEFORE USE TO REDUCE THE RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY, DISCOMFORT, PROPERTY DAMAGE, INCLUDING DAMAGE TO YOUR GOOGLE NEST DOORBELL (WIRED), ACCESSORIES OR ANY CONNECTED DEVICES, AND OTHER POTENTIAL HAZARDS.

HANDLING

Handle your Google Nest Doorbell (wired) with care. You may damage the device or any included batteries or accessories if you disassemble, drop, bend, burn, crush or puncture your device. Do not use a doorbell or chime connector with a damaged enclosure, or some other form of physical damage. Using a damaged doorbell may cause overheating or injury. If your doorbell gets wet, do not attempt to dry it using an external heat source.

Your doorbell works best in ambient temperatures between -4 and 104 °F (-20 and 40 °C) and should be stored between ambient temperatures of -4 and 140 °F (-20 and 60 °C). Do not expose your doorbell to temperatures above 140 °F (60 °C) as this may damage the doorbell, overheat the battery, or pose a risk of fire. Keep your doorbell and chime connector away from heat sources. If your device becomes too hot, disconnect it from its power source, and do not use it until it has cooled. The chime connector is intended to be installed and used indoors only. Your doorbell is designed to work best at an altitude of up to 9842 ft (3,000 m).

Use of your doorbell in certain modes, such as taking videos, or machine learning features, can cause it to generate more heat than it would under normal operating conditions. This may cause your doorbell to operate in a reduced-power mode or temporarily shut down. Use extra care when operating the device in these modes. For more information on risks associated with prolonged heat exposure, please refer to the Prolonged Heat Exposure section below.

REPAIR & SERVICE

Do not attempt to repair your doorbell and accessories yourself. Disassembling the device may result in loss of water resistance, or cause injury, or damage to your device.

Contact customer service if the doorbell or chime connector is not working properly or has been damaged. For online help and support, visit g.co/nest/help.

POWERING

Your Google Nest Doorbell (wired) is designed so that it can be wall-mounted. Install in accordance with local building and installation regulations, using a base plate, wall screws, and wall anchors suited for your wall type. See g.co/nest/installdoorbell for additional instructions on how to safely wall-mount your device.

This doorbell must be used with a Class 2/SELV Source, rated: 16-24VAC, 10VA - 40VA, 50/60Hz. Do not connect the doorbell to your building mains power, such as 110VAC or 220VAC. If connecting the doorbell to existing wiring, turn off power to the doorbell before installation. Power this doorbell with the included wire connector, and chime connector with a compatible chime. Failure to use a compatible power source or accessories can cause fire, electric shock, injury, or damage to the doorbell and the accessories.

If you are not using the wire connector, cut the exposed wire ends to ½ in (13 mm) to prevent an electrical short. If you receive a message while powering that instructs you to unplug the power source, disconnect the power source. Before attempting to power up again, make sure both the cable connector and the device's terminals are dry and clear of any objects, and wire ends are not touching each other or other conductive surfaces.

PROLONGED HEAT EXPOSURE

The doorbell and its accessories generate heat during normal operation and comply with applicable surface temperature standards and limits. Avoid prolonged skin contact when the device is in use because exposing skin to hot surfaces for a long period of time may cause discomfort or burns. Be aware of this issue if you have a physical condition that affects your ability to detect heat against your skin.

CHILD SAFETY

This device is not a toy. Your doorbell and accessories may contain (or may come with) small parts, plastic, glass, or metal elements, and parts with sharp edges that may cause an injury or create a choking hazard. Children have strangled on cords and cables. Keep the doorbell’s cords and cables out of the reach of children (more than 3 ft (0.9 m) away) and do not allow them to play with the doorbell and its accessories. They could hurt themselves or others, or could accidentally damage the doorbell.

BATTERY

This device contains a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, which is a sensitive component that can cause injury if damaged. Do not attempt to remove the battery. Contact Google or a Google authorized service provider to replace the battery. For contact information, visit https://g.co/nest/contact. Replacement by non-qualified professionals can damage your device. Improper replacement or use of a non-qualified battery may present a risk of fire, explosion, leakage, or other hazard. Do not modify or remanufacture/refurbish the battery, puncture or attempt to insert objects into the battery, immerse or expose the battery to water or other liquids, or expose the battery to fire, excessive heat, and/or other hazards.

This device comes with a battery that has proper certifications. In addition, the battery complies with IEEE 1725 standard.

DISPOSAL, TRANSPORTATION, & RECYCLING

Dispose of and transport your device, batteries and accessories according to local environmental and transportation regulations. Do not improperly transport them or dispose of them in normal household waste. Improper disposal or transport may lead to fire, explosion, and/or other hazards. Do not open, crush, heat or incinerate. For more information on recycling your device, batteries and accessories, visit g.co/HWRecyclingProgram.

RADIO FREQUENCY EXPOSURE

This device has been evaluated and meets the applicable regulatory requirements for exposure to radio waves and is designed and manufactured not to exceed the applicable emission limits for exposure to radio frequency (RF) energy. To comply with applicable RF exposure compliance requirements, a distance of at least 20 cm should be maintained between the antenna of this device and persons during device operation.

MEDICAL DEVICE INTERFERENCE

Your device uses radios and other components that emit electromagnetic fields, and also contains magnets. These electromagnetic fields and magnets may interfere with medical devices, such as pacemakers and other implanted medical devices. Always keep the doorbell at a safe distance away from the medical device. If you have questions about using your Google device with or near your medical device, consult your healthcare provider before using your doorbell. If you suspect your doorbell is interfering with your medical device, turn off your Google device and consult your physician for information specific to your medical device.

LED

The LEDs visible on your device are safe under reasonably foreseeable conditions per the requirements in IEC 62471. However, it is recommended that you do not direct the LEDs at anyone’s eyes.

Proper Handling and Usage

Follow these guidelines when using, storing or cleaning of your doorbell and accessories.

OPERATING TEMPERATURE

Do not use the doorbell at ambient temperatures lower than -20 °C (-4 °F) or higher than 40 °C (104 °F). If the interior temperature of the device exceeds normal operating temperatures, you may experience the following behaviors while the device tries to regulate its temperature: reduced performance and connectivity, inability to charge, or device power down. You may not be able to use the device while it regulates its temperature. Let the device cool down (or warm up) and wait a few minutes before attempting to use it again.

CARE & CLEANING

Avoid solvent and abrasive material that may cause damage to the product surface when cleaning the doorbell and accessories. Do not use any chemical detergent, powder, or other chemical agents (such as benzene). Exposure to makeup, chemicals, and dyed materials can stain light colored devices.

To clean your doorbell and accessories, we recommend gently wiping it with a soft, lint-free cloth. Use a dry cloth for streaks, smudges or dust and a slightly damp (not wet) cloth for color transfers. For stains and grime, use ordinary household soap or bleach free cleaning wipes.

To disinfect your doorbell, you can use ordinary household disinfecting wipes or 70% isopropyl alcohol-based wipes. Do not use wipes that have bleach.

WATER RESISTANCE

Your doorbell is water resistant in accordance with the IP54 rating, but it is not waterproof and should not be submerged or sprayed with high pressure water. The doorbell can be used indoors and outdoors, and is designed to work in a wide variety of weather conditions, including sun, wind, rain, and snow. However, it is recommended to install the doorbell under a protective overhang. Water resistance is not a permanent condition and may be compromised by normal wear and tear, repair, disassembly, or damage. Do not remove the labeling plate on the back of the doorbell as it may compromise water resistance. The chime connector is not water resistant and should not be exposed to liquids.

Service & Support

Unauthorized repairs or modifications could result in permanent damage to the device, and may affect your warranty coverage and regulatory authorizations. Doorbell and accessories should only be repaired by Google or a Google authorized service provider. Contact customer service for authorized service. If you send your doorbell in for service, you might receive a replacement in place of your original device. Goods presented for repair may be replaced by refurbished goods of the same type rather than being repaired. Refurbished parts may be used to repair the goods. If the goods are capable of retaining user-generated data then the repair or replacement may result in loss of the data.
