Handling

Handle your Nest Cam with floodlight with care. You may damage the device or any included batteries or accessories if you disassemble, drop, bend, burn, crush or puncture your device. Do not use your Nest Cam with floodlight with a damaged enclosure, a cracked camera lens or some other form of physical damage. Using a damaged device may cause overheating or injury. Do not expose your device to liquids, which can cause a short circuit and overheating. If your Nest Cam with floodlight gets wet, do not attempt to dry it using an external heat source.

Your Nest Cam with floodlight is designed to work best in ambient temperatures between -20° and 40°C (-4° and 104°F) and should be stored between ambient temperatures of -20° and 60°C (-4° and 140°F). Do not expose the Nest Cam with floodlight to temperatures above 60°C (140°F) as this may damage the Nest Cam with floodlight, overheat the battery or pose a risk of fire.

A good knowledge of electrical systems is required. If not qualified, do not attempt to install. Contact a qualified electrician.

Nest Cam with floodlight is designed to be wall-mounted, installed in accordance with local building and installation regulations using the provided mounting plate, mounting plate cover, terminal block and screws/wall anchors suited for your environment. Nest Cam with floodlight is designed to be wall-mounted, installed in accordance with the applicable laws, regulations and standards, by a person familiar with the construction and operation of the product and the hazards involved and in a safe and competent manner. Please check the applicable laws, regulations and standards before installing as a licensed electrician may be required.

Repair and service

Do not attempt to repair your Nest Cam with floodlight yourself. Disassembling the device may result in loss of water resistance or cause injury or damage to your device.

Powering/Charging

Download the Google Home app on your mobile phone or tablet and follow the instructions in the app before using your Nest Cam with floodlight. Turn off the power before exposing wires. Installation may involve high voltage. The app will let you know when to turn the power off.

In case Nest Cam is used without the floodlight, it must be powered by a Class 2 SELV limited power source (LPS) output per IEC 60950-1 and/or PS2 classified output per IEC 62368-1, rated: 5 Volts DC, maximum 1.5 Amp. A suitable adaptor is available on the Google Store or at Google authorised resellers (look for Google’s 'Made For' badge). Failure to use compatible charging accessories can cause fire, electric shock, injury or damage to Nest Cam and the accessories.

Child safety

This device is not a toy. Your device may contain (or may come with) small parts, plastic, glass or metal elements, and parts with sharp edges that may cause an injury or create a choking hazard. Children have strangled on cords and cables. Keep the Nest Cam with floodlight cables out of the reach of children (more than 0.9 metres (3 feet) away) and do not allow them to play with the device and its accessories. They could hurt themselves or others, or could accidentally damage the Nest Cam with floodlight.

Battery

Nest Cam contains a rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack, which is a sensitive component that can cause injury if damaged. Do not attempt to remove the battery. Contact Google or a Google authorised service provider to replace the battery or if dropped and you suspect it is damaged. Replacement by non-qualified professionals can damage your device. Improper replacement or use of a non-qualified battery may present a risk of fire, explosion, leakage or other hazard. Do not modify or remanufacture/refurbish the battery, puncture or attempt to insert objects into the battery, immerse or expose the battery to water or other liquids, or expose the battery to fire, excessive heat and/or other hazards. 

The battery has proper certifications. In addition, the battery complies with IEEE 1725 standard. 

Disposal, transportation and recycling

Dispose of and transport your device, batteries and accessories according to local environmental and transportation regulations. Do not improperly transport them or dispose of them in normal household waste. Improper disposal or transport may lead to fire, explosion and/or other hazards. Do not open, crush, heat above 45̊C (113 ̊F or incinerate. For more information on recycling your device, batteries and accessories, visit g.co/HWRecyclingProgram.

Environmental restrictions

To prevent damage to your Nest Cam with floodlight parts or internal circuits, do not use or store the device or its accessories in dusty, smoky, damp or dirty environments, or near magnetic fields. This may damage the device, overheat the battery or pose a risk of fire or explosion. 

RF exposure

This device has been evaluated and meets the applicable regulatory requirements for exposure to radio waves and is designed and manufactured not to exceed the permissible radio frequency (RF) exposure limits. To comply with applicable RF exposure compliance requirements, a distance of at least 20 cm should be maintained between the antenna of this device and persons during device operation.

Medical device interference 

Your device uses radios and other components that emit electromagnetic fields, and also contains magnets. These electromagnetic fields and magnets may interfere with medical devices, such as pacemakers and other implanted medical devices. Always keep the device at a safe distance away from the medical device. If you have questions about using your Google device with or near your medical device, consult your healthcare provider before using your Nest Cam with floodlight. If you suspect your Nest Cam with floodlight is interfering with your medical device, turn off your Google device and consult your physician for information specific to your medical device.

LEDs 

The LEDs visible on your device are safe under reasonably foreseeable conditions as per the requirements in IEC 62471. However, it is recommended that you do not direct the LEDs at anyone’s eyes.

Proper handling and usage

Follow these guidelines when using, storing or cleaning your Nest Cam with floodlight.

Operating temperature

Do not use the Nest Cam with floodlight at ambient temperatures lower than -20°C (-4°F), or higher than 60°C (140°F). If the interior temperature of the device exceeds normal operating temperatures, you may experience the following behaviours while the device tries to regulate its temperature: reduced performance and connectivity, inability to charge or powering down. You may not be able to use the device while it regulates its temperature. Move the device to a cooler (or warmer) location and wait a few minutes before attempting to use it again.

Non-replaceable LEDs and luminaire cables

The floodlight LEDs are not replaceable. To replace dead LEDs, you will need to replace the floodlight device.

Any service or repair of the luminaire cables should be conducted by the manufacturer or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.

Care and cleaning

Power down the device before cleaning, during lightning storms or when unused for extended periods of time. Avoid solvent and abrasive material that may cause damage to the product surface. Do not use any chemical detergent, powder or other chemical agents (such as benzene) to clean the Nest Cam with floodlight or accessories.

To clean your Nest Cam with floodlight, it is recommended to gently wipe it with a soft, lint-free cloth. Use a dry cloth for streaks, smudges or dust.

To disinfect your device, you can use ordinary household disinfecting wipes or 70% isopropyl alcohol-based wipes. Do not use wipes that have bleach. 

Mounting plate cover painting 

Your Nest Cam with floodlight comes with a paintable mounting plate cover. Use water-based paint when painting this part. Do not use any oil-based paint as this may damage the product.

Weather resistance

Your device is weather-resistant in accordance with the IP standards, but it is not waterproof. Weather resistance is not a permanent condition and may be compromised by normal wear and tear, repair, disassembly or damage.

Magnetic fields

Avoid placing any items containing magnets or which are sensitive to magnetism, such as credit cards, bank cards, audio/video tapes or magnetic memory devices, near this device because you may lose information stored on such items. Items containing information sensitive to magnets should be kept at least 5 cm (2 inches) away from this device.

Service and support

Unauthorised repairs or modifications could result in permanent damage to the device and may affect your warranty coverage and regulatory authorisations. Nest Cam with floodlight should only be repaired by Google or a Google-authorised service provider. Contact customer service for authorised service. 

If you send your device in for service, you might receive a replacement in place of your original device. Goods presented for repair may be replaced by refurbished goods of the same type rather than being repaired. Refurbished parts may be used to repair the goods. If the goods are capable of retaining user-generated data then the repair or replacement may result in loss of the data.
