Relive and share your adventures using Stories

Did you go on a trip or to a special event recently? Easily share your adventure with friends, or simply save the memory for yourself using Stories. Your best photos are automatically chosen and arranged in a fun timeline to show the highlights of your trip or event. See an example.

Stories are private unless you choose to share them.

Make a story

Stories are automatically created and you’ll be notified when one is made for you. Stories will work best if you:

View or edit your stories

If you don’t like a story or a section of a story, you can simply remove it (your original photos won’t be deleted).

Android app

View your stories

  1. Open the Photos icon Photos app.
  2. Touch the Photos icon Photos icon at the top left to open the menu > Stories.
  3. To open a story, touch it.
  4. Drag the screen to move ahead or back. To exit the story, touch the screen > back icon/button. 

Make changes to a story

  • Title: touch the title.
  • Change the cover photo: touch and hold the photo you want as the cover photo > Set as story cover.
  • Remove a photo or location: touch and hold the photo or location > Hide moment. (This will not remove the location from your Location History.)
  • Add or change a caption: touch and hold the corresponding photo > Add a/Edit narrative.
  • Photos in the story: touch the white background >  create icon at the top > check or uncheck photos > Done.
  • Change a location: to the right of the location name, touch the drop-down arrow > the correct location. If you don't see the right location, you can also touch Hide this location from story. (This will not remove the location from your Location History.)

Update a story

If you change any background elements that affect your story, like adding more photos from a separate camera or deleting your Location History, you can choose to rebuild your story to take into account the changes. 

Remember: this will delete your original story and any edits you made to it. If enough photos or locations are removed, you might not receive a new story.

  1. Open the Photos icon Photos app.
  2. Touch the Photos icon Photos icon at the top left to open the menu > Stories.
  3. To open a story, touch it.
  4. Touch the menu menu button/icon at the top right > Rebuild story.

Delete a story

Careful, you cannot restore a story after it has been deleted.

  1. Open the Photos icon Photos app.
  2. Touch the Photos icon Photos icon at the top left to open the menu > Stories.
  3. Touch the story you want to delete to open it > menu menu icon/button > Remove story.
Computer

View your stories

  1. Log into Google+.
  2. Place your cursor over the Google+ Home menu near the top left corner > click Photos icon Photos.
  3. Click More at the top > Stories.
  4. To open a story, click it.
  5. Click the left & right arrows to move ahead or back. To exit the story, click the X at the top right. 

Remove photos or map images from the story

You can remove any part of your story by clicking the X that appears above it. Doing this will not delete the original photos.

Add or remove moments

  1. Open the story.
  2. Click Edit at the top right.
  3. Choose moments to include.
  4. Click Done at the bottom.

Change other parts of the story

  • Title: click the title.
  • Photos in the story: click the Edit button at the top right > check or uncheck photos to include or exclude them > Done at the bottom.
  • Cover photo: go to the first page with the cover photo & title on it > click Change cover photo at the bottom.
  • Captions: Place your cursor over any photo > click the caption. 
  • Remove maps or points of interest: place your cursor over the picture > click the X that appears above it.
  • Change a location: Place your cursor over the location name > click the blue drop-down icon that appears > the correct location. If the right location isn't there, you can remove it by clicking the X that appears at the top left. (This will not remove the location from your Location History.)

Update your story with changes

  1. Log into Google+.
  2. Place your cursor over the Google+ Home menu near the top left corner > click Photos icon Photos.
  3. Click More at the top > Stories.
  4. To open a story, click it. Click the drop-down arrow at the top right > Rebuild story.

Delete a story

Click the story you want to delete > drop-down arrow at the top right > Remove story.

iOS app

View your stories

  1. Open the Google+ app Google+ icon  > touch the menu icon  at the top > Photos.
  2. Touch the drop-down menu at the top > Stories.
  3. To open a story, touch it.
  4. Drag the screen to move ahead or back. To exit the story, touch the screen > back arrow.

Delete a story

Careful, you cannot restore a story after it has been deleted.

  3. Touch the story you want to delete to open it > gear icon  > Remove story.

Stop receiving Stories

You can prevent new stories from being created by turning off Auto Awesome.
