Here are some tips for optimizing your video conferencing experience:
General adviceMaximize the video window
Maximizing the window you're using for the video conference makes it easier to see who you're talking with and what's being shared.
- Tablet mode: In tablet mode, the window you're using is always maximized.
- Laptop mode: To maximize the window when in laptop mode, press the Alt and + keys. You can also go to the top right of the window and click Maximize .

If you experience performance issues while attempting to video conference, it may help to close other applications that may be running in the background.
To see all currently open windows:
- Tablet mode: From the top of the screen, drag your finger down to show other available windows in overview. Then tap the window you want. You can also do this by tapping Overview in the bottom corner of your screen.
- Laptop mode: Press & hold Alt, then tap Tab until you get to the window you want to open. You can also do this on your keyboard by pressing the Overview key .
To close a window while in Overview mode, select Close in the upper right corner of the window.

To make it easier for others to see you while video conferencing, make sure to use a well-lit area. Try to avoid backlighting, or other distracting background elements, and make sure that the camera lens is clean.
Many video conferencing apps, including Hangouts, allow you to preview your video feed before joining a meeting. Use this to ensure the lighting and other conditions make you clearly visible.
