Pixel 5 astrophotography photos with wide angle lens turn out green and grainy
0
Astrophotography pictures with the primary lens at 1x all turn out amazing, but when I enable the wide angle at .6 the quality is awful, green blotchy and full of noise. Exact same horizon shots included below, one with primary and one with wide angle. The wide angle for astrophotography is one of the primary reasons I bought this phone, please don't tell me this is by design!

Same issue here. Wide-angle shots always turn out green :( Hopefully, this can be fixed with an update rather than the wide-angle hardware not being up to the job.

Yeah, confirmed it doesn't work anymore in wide mode. Instead of fixing the problem Google just disables the functionality? Awesome!

And it is oficial post from Google? I think they just turn off functionality before repair this. Or am I too naive?

@Sartas, maybe you're right, but my guess is that the wide angle hardware is not up to snuff for shooting low light / long exposures, so they just disabled it because they know it can't be fixed. But I would love to be proven wrong in a future update.

I found somethink about it here: https://support.google.com/googlecamera/answer/9708795?hl=en , so it looks you're sadly right. But I dont know why. When I get my Pixel 5, I shot some astro pictures first clear sky night, when I can and I saw pictures from wide angle in astro wasn't so great, but I didn't notice this green coloring, but I can have wrong memory...
