This has happened on both mine and my wife's phone.  I have an app called skymap and it says neither of our phones have an accelerometer or gyroscope. We both bought our phones unlocked from best buy mine in store hers online, hers sorta sage, mine black. I downloaded an app that checks the sensors and it also says there is no accelerometer or gyro scope.

I have factory reset and have reached out to Google support and waiting to hear back after they asked for a bug report.

I have noticed the Samsung Wearable App breaks Auto-Rotate on my Pixel 5.   Uninstalling Samsung Wearable seemed to fix the problem.

Andrew,

Thank you for sharing what worked for you.  That information may be very helpful to others with the same issue.

Anyone experiencing this same problem should try running in Safe Mode.  Third party apps can't run in Safe Mode, so if the problem isn't present while in Safe Mode, that's an indication that the issue is being caused by a third party app.  Find and remove the app and you remove the problem.

To be clear, running in Safe Mode did not resolve my issue.   Only uninstalling Samsung Wearables.

Andrew,

Running in Safe Mode is not intended to resolve issues in itself; it's used as a test to see if the issue is related to a third-party app.

Third-party apps cannot run in Safe Mode; ergo, if an issue doesn't occur in Safe Mode that's an indication that the issue is being caused by a third-party app.  On the other hand, if the issue does occur while in Safe Mode, then that would indicate the issue is not related to a third-party app.

I just spoke to Google Support and they said:

"I would like to inform you that Google is aware about these issue and our developers team is working efficiently to make Android users experience more comfortable.

A fix for this issue will be available with the next software update which will start rolling out the first few weeks of December

As you know Google release it's security patch update for all device on 5th of every month."

So, fingers crossed!
