Pixel 5 & Pixel Stand - Screen Off When Dark Setting
HI all,
I received my Pixel 5 on launch date yesterday and it's fantastic. I upgraded form the Pixel 3XL which I've always charged overnight on my Pixel Stand.
I found last night that I was being woken by the room being half illuminated by the clock screen (The black screen with just clock and notification icons).
I have set up the pixel stand with the pixel 5 to set 'Screen off when dark' but it seems the sensor or camera isn't picking up when it's dark? When I placed my finger directly over the camera area of the screen it would turn the screen off.....at a bit of a loss as to what to do?

Hi Pixel Community,
This issue has been fixed with the latest software update for the Pixel Stand app. The fix is available in software version v1.4.0.339169396 or later.
Update: You can check your app version by going to: Settings --> Apps & Notifications --> See all apps --> Pixel Stand --> App details. If you click on App details, it will open the Pixel Stand app in the play store.

Same issue but with a Pixel 4 XL on Android 11. I tried toggling the "screen off when dark" setting, and also forgetting and setting up the Pixel stand again. I assume it's a bug of some kind with the latest Pixel stand app update for home controls.

I have the same problem with my Pixel 5: the display turns off when it is dark but after a few minutes (less than 5) the display turns on again and stays on.
Toogling the setting off and on again and rebooting didn't help, turning "Always on Display" off didn't help either. I also removed the Pixel Stand from the connected devices and connected it again.
The problem didn't occour with my Pixel 3XL and 4 XL.

I also have the same issue with the Pixel 5 as described by other posters. Very annoying when trying to sleep! Hope it's a bug that can be fixed

This issue has not been fixed... My phone screen can be off and the room is black. The minute you put it on the stand you get the clock and white light. I have played with the settings nothing works. It's a real piss off
