Pixel 4a front facing camera taking blurry pictures

1 Recommended Answer 115 Replies 336 Upvotes Just upgraded to a Pixel 4a from a Pixel 3 and I have noticed a drastic downgrade in the quality using the front facing camera. The background looks sharp but my face looks blurry even with the minimal 18 in distance recommended & tap-to-focus.
I also did all the troubleshooting possible with Google specialists but nothing worked. Is this normal or should I get a replacement since I have been offered one? I just want to make sure it's not the new quality to expect from the best camera on a smartphone...
Anyone else with this issue?

Hi,
Disable Location on the phone and try again. Also, try clearing cache for the Camera app from Settings > Apps > Camera > Storage.

Hi Dinsan and thanks for reaching out. I've done that already with the Google Specialists but it didn't fix the issue. Pictures are still blurry. Do you have a Pixel 4a? How are the pictures with the front facing camera?

Yes i have this problem too. I just realised this when i saw my friends pixel 4a (front cam) can take better sharper pics than mine. Colour is all fine but there are no details, pics looks so cheap in mine.
