Pixel 3A has major charging problems after Android 11 update 1 Recommended Answer 10 Replies 37 Upvotes

my pixel 3a was working flawlessly with a wide range of USB chargers under Android 10.

I've had all sorts of problems since the Android 11 upgrade a few days ago.

I get weird error notifications talking about incompatible analog devices, or it asks me if the USB device is allowed to control the phone, etc etc.    yet, sometimes it charges fine on the same charger.    My favorite USB C chargers are Anker PowerIQ 3, both wall plugs and 12V automobile adapters, these have always rapid charged every USB C device I own including the Pixel 3A, but I'm also having  issues with older USB "A" chargers that are rated at 2.1 A, these always worked with Android 10 but now are nearly as flakey as the C "PD" chargers.   I've used numerous USB A-C and C-C cables, no differences.    Once in awhile, the phone charges, more often with a slow USB A 2.1A charger, so with a lot of persistence, I've been able to keep it charged.

Sometimes when I plug it into one of the USB C PD chargers, the phone cycles charging (not charging) charging (not charging) every few seconds for a few minutes, then quits.   unplugging, and replugging the charger doesn't help.     rebooting the phone doesn't help.

Daughter is having similar issues with her Pixel 3A.

If plugged in and restarted will typically show as charging upon reboot completed. Remove charger and then won't show charging again.

Sporadically does charge with a variety of chargers.

She had no issues before v11 update.

Also was prompting her about USB Connection preferences, etc in same time frame this issue popped up.

I just had the same issue with my Pixel 3a.  If a factory reset doesn't work, I had success with the google web app pixel repair tool recommended on another site.

https://pixelrepair.withgoogle.com/carrier_selection

The repair web app told me I needed to erase and re-install the system update and it did it all through the direct connection after I put the phone in rescue mode as instructed

It took a few days of trying to get the phone to actually connect to my computer due to the issue at hand, but today it connected and I ran the web app which worked.  I did put select "file transfer/android auto" option in the usb preferences before putting the phone in rescue mode.

Lol, how is the "recommended answer" just an edit from OP? Google why?

Since the update of Android 11, my Pixel 3XL has had charging problems, when connecting it does not show the charging notification, and it starts to load extremely slow. When I connect it to the PC it does not detect it, if I turn off the cell phone and connect it to AC power it turns on.
I am using the original adapter, which even works on other cell phones but not on my Pixel 3XL. While my Pixel 3XL is off and I connect any other adapter to it, it turns on and starts charging really slow without showing the chargnig status notification. However, with the original adapter it does not turn on when my Pixel 3XL is off, it does not show the notification of charching status and it does not even advance the battery percentage. Neither does my pc detect it when I connect it, either with the original adapter or any other cabl
