VP, Product Management States the phones are Snapdragon 730g's

while it does make sense that the processor in the Mid-Range, Less expensive offering WOULD be the non-gaming version of the processor, it would also make sense that the Mid-Range, Less expensive offering wouldn't have a larger battery and larger default storage option than the flagship model in the same generation... and that's not what happened this time around.

Hi Allen,
Yes, this came to my attention yesterday. Even Qualcomm in some of their tweets mention 730G. I'm still trying to get clarification on this again, because it looks like the information given to me previously wasn't vetted properly.
Personally I think the Google Store hardware specs page has a typo, and it's actually 730G. But I will certainly post back with confirmation when I get it.

Birju, this is a community staffed with users, and we don't have insight into why certain decisions were made by Google. If I had to guess, SD 730G might have provided the perfect balance between keeping the phone low cost while still keeping it powerful enough for a good user experience.

Another reason for the choice of 730G over other SoCs could be to achieve greater battery life, which is something the Pixel 4 (not 4a) struggled with. Rumors are that the Pixel 4a 5G and even Pixel 5 might use the improved SD 765G. Achieving a balance among cost, performance and battery life can be challenging.
