I've seen various unsuccessful instructions for older Android versions as well as suggestion to submit feedback directly to Google (settings>system>feedback) but that feature doesn't work either.

Sadly, while I consider the stock Pixel launcher fantastic in all other regards, you cannot move that danged search bar.
The Pixel launcher is fast, snappy, provides easy access to my news with the right swipe, .. yet every single time I try to click to open my mail, or hit the phone button, or the messaging button, I still hit that poorly located search bar. Which means I then have to cancel it, and 'carefully' click on what I need, wasting my time.. those few seconds add up over time...
Google's greed has overtaken good sense. They want you using their search functions, so they can get more advertising in front of you.
So, Nova Launcher it is, a little slower, but not overly so. No swipe to my news now, but I have an icon to get to it.
Sorry G*, your loss..

I am pretty surprised that there are not more people complaining about this waste of screen space by Google. Maybe if I had one of the newer phones with skinnier screens this wouldn't be such a pain in my hand. Come in Google, why are you letting some type A fascist impose their perverted will on your customers?

When Google won't let me turn off its services, like this search bar, even after having paid almost $700 for their phone, it makes me wish I had bought an iPhone instead
