Did Google really remove the Photosphere feature?

I received my Pixel 8 Pro today and was disappointed that it didn't appear as though I could take photospheres anymore.

Why? Am I just not looking in the right place?

The panoramas worked much better than the awful panorama feature we have now, and I really enjoyed using that feature in unique locations. Was the feature just silently dropped like that?

It is not out of the question for me to return this device now. Please tell me this was just delayed for some reason?

Yes, perhaps it is time to try an iPhone, a fantastic phone that...doesn't have photosphere either.

Hi Zackary Lowery

That appears to be the case:

Yes, this is the case. I was also disappointed in loss of this feature.

I found doing a 3x3 grid could help me get great wide angle shots - and the 360 was nice.

I hope they bring it back!

It's so sad that more people didn't catch on to the photospheres.  I loved using it and I know I'm not alone.  There's a memorial service for it over on Reddit.  I hope they bring it back with better AI that stitches the photos together better.  It was my favorite aspect of Pixel phones and w/o a really deep discount, I won't be returning to the Pixels anytime soon.

That was my favorite feature about Google phones. It's crazy to say this but I wouldn't have bought the pixel 8p if I knew this feature was removed. Does anybody know of alternatives to photosphere???

I am VERY disappointed. I contributed thousands of spheres to Google Maps. Now that must stop? Why?

I'm also disappointed, but found at least this:
Not 100% the same, but almost. I suspect the authors actually ripped the code from an older version of Google Camera app.
