Sony RX100M6 →NG
・ Insta360 ONE X →NG
・ Canon EOS Kiss M →OK
・ GoPro HERO7 Black →OK

なぜかPixel3でUSBの設定がうまくいかずこの当たりを事前に変更して使えるデバイスが自分の手元にもいくつかあります(^^;

Hi

I have a Pixel 3a XL, and I got similar problem with Hatai San.
However, unfortunately, I use the way that Kobayashi San responded, it didn't work.

I have a card reader ( USB Type-C), and I don't connect camera (SONY X3000) directly, but connect card reader, it didn't work neither. Pixel 3a XL system told me that I should format my Micro SD card, but another android phone of mine (XiaoMi 8 SE) can read the content of that Micro SD card successfully.

I would like to choose 3a XL to instead my XiaoMi 8 SE, but this problem is inconvenient for me. Hope Google Pixel Team could fix this problem in next android version.

Thanks.

Hi, Mr. Liu, thank you for your help.

I've also tried USB Media Explorer that you suggested and it works perfectly.
I think the advantage of USB Media Explorer are:
  • It works both connections directly to cameras and via SD card readers. (My solution above does not work with SD card readers.)
  • It is not required that we find a work around for each camera. (My solution might not be able to be used for another model.)

Beside it requires some pay, the only one problem of the app might be its look and feel.

The reason why Pixel cannot access Sony cameras via an OTG USB-cable is
Pixel does NOT support exFAT.
So the solutions are
  1. Use FAT32 File system (SDHC Card) if you can.
  2. Or set your camera to use MTP when you use SDXC with exFAT. See below.

Solution using MTP
How to connect Sony Cameras to Google Pixel 3 via an OTG (On-The-Go) USB-cable.
  1. Change the [USB Connection] setting to MTP.
(see Sony DSC-RX100M6 Help Guide - USB Connection)
    # No need to change any settings of Pixel 3.
  2. Connect your camera to Pixel 3 via an OTG cable.
  3. Run the "File" app (file manager app which is pre-installed to any Pixel Phones).
  4. Tap the three horizontal lines (hamburger menu drawer) on the top left, and you must find an item like "RX100M6" (the name of your camera).
  5. Tap it and you can access photos in your camera.

This solution works for Sony RX100M6, RX100M5A, and a6400 (ILCE-6400). And I believe it can work for any other Sony cameras like them.
