Should the Pixel 4/4XL be getting the November update? I am with AT&T but my phone is unlocked.

Hello,

Are you checking in the system update setting. You will need to go into the security bit in settings and then you may see it after you run a check there.

Hope this helps.

Same for me. Pixel 4 XL.

Exact same issue. NA verizon, unlocked 4 XL, and it just keeps telling me that I'm up to date. Currently outside of the US, but VPN connected to appear inside the US.

Mine is also unlocked Google store version. Sounds like something is up. I'm in Indiana if part of the country matters

I dont think its been rolled out for OTA just yet for some reason. I am not aware of anyone with a 4 that received it yet.

Same. Pixel 4 unlocked from google store also.

Same here. Unlocked Google Store purchased on AT&T network. No update. Wife's Pixel 3xl received it no problem.

Me too. Unlocked Pixel 4, purchased from Best Buy.

Same for me, purchased directly from the US Google Store unlocked. Using it in the UK on EE. My Pixel 2 XL, also purchased directly from the US Google Store unlocked and on the same network, pulled the update just fine.

No update for me as well. Unlocked Pixel 4 xl, on AT&T network, purchased via Google store. Keeps saying I am up to date. Last update was October.

Same here, pixel 4, locked, bought directly from google store on Fi

No November update for me either.  Unlocked Pixel 4 128GB from the Google Store using a Verizon SIM in the US.  I even tried a factory reset thinking it might have been related to the restore from my Pixel 2, no luck.  I have opened a support case with Google as well.  I am stuck on build version QD1A.190821.007
marked this as an answer
Same. I am also unable to sideload because the November builds have an older build date than the October build that I currently have installed.

Same is the case here as well. Got Unlocked Pixel 4 from Google Store but I still haven't received the November Update.

I have a pixel 4 xl, bought in canada, being used in israel.
Keep getting that there are no updates.
Just tried to switch to my Canadian sim and immediately got the update. Switched back and the update got cancelled and returned to "no update".

Google told me it depends on the manufacturing date as to when you get the update. I also have a 4xl ordered from Google store and have not received the update. But my 3xl got one Monday afternoon like it always does first Monday of the month.
marked this as an answer
Me too.  My 4 XL unlocked bought from Google Store using my Verizon SIM hasn't received it yet but my wife's 4 XL on Verizon, not the unlocked Google Store version, got it right away.  Shouldn't the unlocked be the first?  Come on Google!

Same problem here, keeps saying I'm up to date , security update from October 5th. Pixel 4 XL , from Google Fi
marked this as an answer
Pixel 4 unlocked, purchased from Google Store, Verizon SIM. Still no update.

Interestingly it's not even running the right version of the October build. The Verizon support page says it should be on the QD1A.190821.011.C4 version of the October build, but my phone is on a different October build QD1A.190821.007. I wonder if a one-time manual update to get on the right carrier-specific build is needed for unlocked phones. However, that was never necessary with my unlocked Pixel OG/2/3.

Google, if you can't even prioritize the phones bought directly from you, unlocked, then how are you going to convince people that buying from you directly is a good idea?

You may be building a good product but you are really lacking on the business side.

Same here, still no update on my Google Pixel 4 XL bought unlocked direct from the Google store. Very disappointing!

Same issue here on Pixel 4XL, bought from US Google Store (using in the Middle East).

For grins, I did a system restore, full wipe, and after setting up again, the patch showed up.

"Installing security update..."
Update size: 21.0 MB

Go figure.

Well maybe Google should start monitoring this forum because they kind of suck at customer support.

"You'll get it when you get it" is not exactly the way to tell your customer who has bought 5 phones directly from Google in the last 3 years.
marked this as an answer
Google (pixel support) has told me..we have to wait..it comes in batches...be patient

@Louis  exactly!

I just got off a chat session with Google support and got the "you'll get it when you get it" speech.

But I did let them know apparently people are getting updates with phones bought at carriers' stores but those bought directly from Google are not getting the update. This is ridiculous and needs to be fixed ASAP because if we aren't getting timely updates with Pixel phones then what's the point? Might as well buy a OnePlus...

I recommend people to do the same so they take this matter seriously.

Had an identical interaction with them about an hour ago, and explained the exact same thing.   The advice:  Call back if it is not there by 11/18.  Not a very satisfying experience.

Unlocked pixel 4 XL from google store.  Check for Update not working for November update.  I have a Verizon sim (the one I used in my pixel 2 XL).

I was really looking forward to the pixel 4, maybe should have waited for S11.
marked this as an answer
The check for update is working. Its just that the OTA hasnt been released yet
marked this as an answer
I thought that the entire point of the "Check for Update" button was so that you didn't have to wait for the OTA to hit you - you could just manually pull it down. Confusing messaging on that button, to be honest.
marked this as an answer
Sure I could sideload it, but I shouldnt have to sideload an update to a PIXEL. It should be available OTA on day 1 of release whether its a carrier phone or unlocked....period.
marked this as an answer
Nov 7 still no november update for pixel 4?
marked this as an answer
-
The "OTA hasn't been uploaded yet" excuse is laughable if not pathetic.

Apparently Pixel 4s/4XLs bought in carrier stores got the update so some OTA have been uploaded. Why would Google prioritize phones bought with carriers over ones bought directly through them?

Dumb business practice.
marked this as an answer
Adding myself to this list.

Pixel 4 XL (unlocked) bought from Best Buy, using a Google Fi sim.

Have been checking incessantly throughout the day since November 4th.

Doesn't feel like 'Check for update' button does anything, comes back way to quick claiming I'm up to date.  It's like a Placebo, there to test your patience.  Possibly tallying up all of our collective 'check for update' presses for a good laugh.
marked this as an answer
You all should buy Samsung phones, those get updates faster then Pixel nowadays :) well at least the November update rolled out on November 1st as well as bunch of OS improvements :)

I'm on a pixel 4 and I have had it for 2 days.

Check in the security update under security settings. Not in the system update settings?

If it's not there then I'm not too sure.

Gosh if a couple days delay on the security update gets you guys this upset - I fear what may happen itf the phone goes on sale for Black Friday

Im good i got $100 off at best buy. Im just wondering if these are isolated cases or if its simply not out for the 4 yet.
marked this as an answer
Its not out for the 4 yet via OTA.
marked this as an answer
If it was a carrier device, it's been sent OTA.  My wife's Verizon 4 XL got it immediately as usual.  My unlocked 4 XL from the Google Store has not.

Threads on other community and android centric sites say otherwise.

"It's not out for the 4 yet via OTA"

Then how come some of the phones bought in the carrier stores got the update?

"I fear what may happen if the phone goes on sale for Black Friday"

Nobody is complaining about the price, until you brought it up. I know what I paid and when I paid it so I won't bitch about pricing drop after I bought it. You however, kept dodging the question about why the 4/4XL bought in the Google stores are not getting updates while those bought in the carrier stores are. It seems like you don't have an answer or something is up in Google. I suggest you to find out exactly what happened and not BSing us with excuses after excuses.
marked this as an answer
I havent dodged and question. The OTA is not out yet for the Unlocked 4 devices. How much clearer can i get?

Why is Google prioritizing devices bought in the carrier stores over the ones bought directly through them?

What happened to the 'Pixel experience' that Google has been harping about from day one?
marked this as an answer
you didn't say that specifically, was just making sure it was clear that carrier ones got it.  Not trying to call anyone out or start an argument.  Just frustrated that I bought a Pixel, unlocked, from Google directly, and the carrier versions are getting it first.  Seems odd.  Not a life changing issue, just slightly frustrating.
marked this as an answer
Does your phone work any differntly than it did 2 days ago? Its just a monthly security update, its not a big deal if its a few days late. Maybe the carrier versions screwed something up and Google wants to make sure the unlocked devices dont get messed up too.

There are lots of reasons for delays, one being they roll stuff out in phases as well.
marked this as an answer
-
So by your "does your phone work differently than 2 days ago" excuse, as long as there is no major change in the functions we shouldn't be expecting timely updates then?

What happened to 'Pixel will always get updates first'?

This is not a matter of whether or not my phone works, this is about Google making claims and can't seem to back it up.
marked this as an answer
yes actually.  Per their release document:

Smooth Display improvements and CameraCamera quality improvements
marked this as an answer
Sometimes, but not often, they dont happen first. Clearly there is a delay for some reason. But 95% of the time since the original pixel I have received updates on the day they were released
marked this as an answer
-
Again... Just to make it clear in case you have more excuses:

1. Unlocked 4/4XL bought in Google Store are not getting OTA update
2. 4/4XL bought in carrier stores got OTA update the last few days

Why is Google prioritizing carrier phones over phones purchased directly through them?

Why is Google punishing those who bought directly through them?

When is the OTA for the unlocked devices going to be available? "You'll get it when you get it" is hardly an acceptable answer especially knowing the carrier devices already got the update.
marked this as an answer
I fail to see how a slight delay is punishing. Next time get a verizon version that is locked and loaded with crap
marked this as an answer
good to know.  Thanks!  This is my second Pixel after the 3 XL last year, but first time ordering the unlocked.  I had ordered my wife's and mine as the Verizon models from the Google Store, but hers (white) shipped quickly, but mine (black) had a shipping delay until mid December.  So I cancelled my order for the Verizon version and re-ordered the unlocked which had no shipping delay.  That's why she has the VZ one and I have the unlocked.  Didn't think I'd ever get updates after her.  But no biggie as long as it's not too much longer.

"I fail to see how a slight delay is punishing. Next time get a verizon version that is locked and loaded with crap"

More excuses, at least you are consistent.
marked this as an answer
first of all, i never said it was punishing.  I said it was a slight annoyance.  Let's keep things in perspective.  Second of all, the Verizon version isn't loaded with crap.  The only difference is that it has the verizon app installed by default.  That's literally it from an end user perspective.  It's the least bloated carrier phone I've ever seen outside of an iPhone (which I'd never buy).

Hi

The update is rolling out and you should see it in the next few weeks.

You're missing the point. Some of us invest into Pixel, despite the lack of flagship specs and features, and at too high of prices, for things like being first in line for patches and updates. So when Google doesn't deliver on this, to the people who bought directly from them, we get a little frustrated. If we were complaining as much as you say, we would just side-load it and be done. But that's not the point.

 oh this is getting good

No idea who this Scott guy is, but the update is undeniably out there for many Pixel 4/4 XL owners.

Personally I'm not 'upset' just concerned.  Concerned because waiting for them to appear was supposed to be a thing of the past.

"Personally I'm not 'upset' just concerned.  Concerned because waiting for them to appear was supposed to be a thing of the past."

This is exactly the point.

I was having update delayed on my 2 XL when I first got it but over the last year or so I consistently was able to pull the update using the 'check for update' function. It's mind boggling that a newer phone has that function taken away.

Also, it seems like many of us are experienced Pixel users so it'll be appreciated if we can keep the BS to the minimum level.

Pixel 4 bought from the Google store. Project Fi is my carrier. It doesn't get much more Android than that. Still no November update.

I have not kept tabs on all the phones that have gotten their November update. However, it seems like many have received the November update  who bought their Pixel 4 from different sources and different carriers. My concern is that there is something wrong with our specific devices that are preventing them from getting the update.

Go to their website and find 'send us a tip' link, or something along the line. Describe the issue and provide the link to this page so they can look up themselves how many unlocked users are having this issue.

This is crazy, I've had almost all of the last Nexus and pixel devices and beta tested Android.

I grind my teeth when thinking about switching to Apple but Google seems to be getting worse at an alarming rate. I would expect this from somebody like Samsung who has more than 10 times the phones on the market. Google only has 2 new phones a year to manage.

Hi @ all,

whats your October Build: mine is QD1A.190821.007 on my Pixel 4. Bought at Google Store. Artem from AndroidPolice hasn´t got the update with this Build, too. In German Android Forums this Build didn´t get the Update but other October Builds did.
