I started noticing a green-ish gradient on the top and bottom of my homescreen when using a dark/black wallpaper.  It wasn't there initially; then it started showing up on day 4 of using my phone.  It only happens while on homescreen, it doesn't show while I'm using other apps.  I've tried restarting, turning off developer options and doing a factory reset but no luck.  It's annoying and looks ugly...I don't think it's a "feature" since it wasn't there two days ago.See picture attached.

Hi BBG, I did some testing and switched some of my home screen colors around along with going into dark mode. I do not have the same gradient color shift as you say... However, I do notice just a bit of light creeping through the glass edge internally on the top and bottom.
Could that be what's giving the gradient light effect?
As long as you don't have any dead pixel somed on your screen I would t worry too much about it.
But if you really believe it's a defect, then be sure to contact Google support and see if it would be RMA'd for a new one under manufacturers defect.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your response.  I think my issue is different than what you described when you switched to dark mode and selected a dark/black background.  I also noticed when I uploaded a screenshot of my screen, the green-ish gradient is barely noticeable.  So what I did is took a picture of my phone (see attached).  It doesn't seem bad on that picture but it's very visible in person.  It even got worse at one point when the gradient started having black pixelated areas (battery was low at the time, not sure if that's related).

like this?
When the screen displays dark pictures in full screen (like the two in the album, note: not a pure black picture. When pure black, the OLED is not illuminated, so it is not observed), you can see green light in the upper and lower parts of the screen under weak light intensity (such as indoor, in the dim place).
This situation has always existed since the purchase of a mobile phone. But recently I found that when I touch the screen, it flashes (sometimes it flashes by itself).
When a light-colored picture is displayed, there will also be a weak blue or green light, but it is not obvious.

Now, I think I should need a new screen. It is very difficult for me to send my mobile phone to the United States from China

I am also having the same issue exactly as you describe. Have you tried contacting Google Support? I have attached a photo of what mine looks like. My wallpaper is a completely black background. It seems to disappear slightly when I transition into the Google Feed. I do have Night Light on but this issue persists without it.

This is a 'feature' of the pixel launcher, that's why you only see it on the home screen. I think it is supposed to only be applied when using a lighter wallpaper to help darken ( I know it looks like it's doing the opposite but it's a grey gradient) the area for the white characters and icons. My Pixel 3 XL has just recently started doing this, as I have always used mostly black live wallpapers and have never seen this before, and it's really pronounced having it pass through the notch. I really hope Google does something about this, but I'm not holding my breath...
