I cannot receive any text messages on my Google Pixel 5A, but can send text messages with no problem

I upgraded from a Google Pixel 3A to a Google Pixel 5A today.  After setting up my new phone, I am unable to receive text messages from any source.  I can send text messages with no problems.  I can send and receive calls with no problems.  Only receiving text messages is not working.  

I found several threads with similar issues on older phones, but have had no success using their fix methods (including restarts, uninstalling updates, uninstalling and reinstalling the messages app, resetting network and wireless settings, etc.).

My cellular provider is Verizon.  I spent a couple hours working with their customer support, where they had me change multiple setting on the phone, as well as them changing multiple backend settings.  None of the changes worked, and they are out of ideas on their end.

Does anyone have a fix for this problem?

Notmai Realnaim- Welcome to the Google Pixel Help Community! First of all, great handle lol. Notmai Realnaim. One of the best I have seen in 1000s of posts.
 
I posted this for our group because without a number port, carrier change, or iPhone to Android switch, I don't think I have seen this before. RCS and iMessage don't play nice with each other but Pixel to Pixel with the same number and carrier? Is that correct?

I was actually chatting with Verizon support as I posted this yesterday, and they walked through a bunch of troubleshooting steps with no luck, including your CDMA suggestion, Jason.  

I upgraded to the Pixel 5A from my old Pixel 3A.  Verizon's Tier 2 tech thinks it may be related to the fact that my sim card is pretty old, and this is the 3rd phone I've used it in as well as the first phone with 5G compatibility.  Verizon is shipping me out a new sim card to see if that remediates the issue.

I am having the same texting issues with my new 5A 5G. I am on the Verizon network but am a Page Plus customer (Page Plus uses the Verizon network). Page Plus customer service is not the best to say the least. Does anyone have any advice? I think I may be out of luck.
