Introducing Call Screen

Hey Pixel fans,

Pixel 3 brings a new way to handle unknown incoming calls. The Google Assistant on your Pixel 3 can help you screen unknown calls so you know who’s calling and why before picking up.

Just hit the new "Screen call" button when you get an incoming call. The system will ask why they're calling and you'll see a transcript of their response in real-time. Then you can decide whether to pick up, mark the call as spam, or tap to respond with one of the quick replies (i.e., "Tell me more" or "I’ll call you back.")

This ability to screen calls is designed to help you quickly determine whether the call is important. No more missing an important call because you thought it was spam.

The AI powering this feature runs on your device, so the experience is fast, responsive, and private to you. It keeps power consumption to a minimum and even works without a data connection. If you’d like to try it out before you use it, you can find a demo in your Phone app settings.

Call Screen is initially available in English to Pixel 3 users in the US, and will launch to Pixel 1 and 2 users later this year. We’d love to hear your thoughts on what we can do next to help you get more out of the feature.

Can you please keep the screen on until i close it? I love this functions but SPAM/telemarketers are hanging up before i can mark the call as SPAM. There should also be an option to send to voicemail? Otherwise I love the feature.

Brian pegged it.  They need to nail down this problem fast.  As it is, call screening takes EVEN LONGER to block spammers because the Spammer hangs up and the options for blocking disappear.  I then have to do what i did before, go to the dialler and block/spam the number.  Please Google, Address this fast!  I have addressed this through my Project FI app but not sure they are gonna care much about it. +

My new PIxel 3 is not offering call screening (I had already used it on my Pixel, and I want it back!). It's not in the settings menu. I've restarted and restarted after a longer shut down. I'm East Coast US - English....
