Hi Danil,

I'm not having any trouble with the hotspot on my Pixel 2 since installing Android 9. Can you provide any details about what isn't working? Just saying that it's broken doesn't really tell us a lot - is the option unavailable? Does it fail to activate? Does it activate but not provide a decent network connection to tethered devices?

Please be very specific in your description of what's going wrong. We can't see your device so we're relying on you to help us help you troubleshoot the problem.

Thanks,
John

Yeah so basically I try to connect to my PS4 via hotspot, it gives me connection to internet and also provides ip address but it stops at that! Connection speeds are between 4kbts per sec to 70kbts. Also tried using another device and it connects fine! Didn't have the problem before updating. Verizon didn't know what was the problem eather

It looks like something is preventing me from using my Verizon hotspot. IDK if that makes any sense.

When you say that you tried with another device does that mean you used another device as the hotspot or that you connected another device to your Pixel 2's hotspot?

I am having the same problem. Other devices connect to hotspot, but PS4 is not. PS4 will connect to another WiFi hotspot though. Have done reboot and reset on all systems. Still the same. It started after "pie" update.

I am having the same issue with my google pixel 2 xl phone. my mobile hotspot has stopped working since I've upgraded to android pi 9.0, each time i try using my hotspot it will connect to my PS4 briefly then disconnect, reconnect and disconnect repeatedly. It worked perfectly fine before the new update. any ideas how to fix this problem?

Thanks all for the continued reports. This certainly sounds like an issue specific to using a PS4 with the phone's hotspot.

I'm not sure what might have changed but I'm going to escalate this thread to see if we can get some more eyes on it.

Cheers,
John

Also having the same issue here.

Have tested to be able to connect my PS4 to another mobile device hot spot without any issues.
Can connect my laptop to my Pixel 2 Hot spot without issues

However when connecting my PS4 to the Pixel 2 Hot spot, it attempts to connect then disconnects, timing out on the PS4, similar to Danil.

I'm having similar problems. I use my hotspot to play games as my dsl is too slow. Well it works if I connect my PC to it but my PS4 cannot stay connected to it. If I watch the hotspot it keeps telling me 1 device connected and then no device connected. Also tried using someone else's phone's hotspot that did not get the pie update. Their's will stay connected just fine.

All,

What mobile service provider(s) are you using? I know Danil is on Verizon but I'm wondering if this is a problem on any other networks.

Thanks,
John

Yes, my Nexus 9 as well as my Windows 10 Laptop (1809 Fall update) are able to establish an internet connection using Pixel's hotspot.

I read about several VW owners facing the same issue since the update to Android 9. Same issue holds true for a bunch of PS4 users as far as I learned while scrolling through a few user forums searching for a solution. So the problem is not unique to me but effecting only certain categories of devices?
