Put emergency information on your lock screen

You can add a message and emergency information to your Android phone's lock screen.

Important: Anyone who picks up your phone can see your message and emergency information without unlocking your phone.

Note: Some of these steps work only on Android 8.0 and up. Learn how to check your Android version.

Put a message on your lock screen

You can add a line of text to your lock screen, like information that would help someone return your device if you lost it.

  1. Open your device's Settings app Settings app.
  2. Tap Security & Location.
  3. Next to "Screen lock," tap Settings Settings.
  4. Tap Lock screen message.
  5. Type your message. Tap Save.

Show emergency information from your lock screen

You can add a link to personal emergency information to your device's lock screen. For example, you can add information that would help first responders in an emergency, like your blood type, allergies, and medications.

Add information
  1. Open your device's Settings app Settings app.
  2. Tap Users & accounts and then Emergency information.
  3. Enter the information that you want to share.
    • On the "Info" tab, tap a field and enter your information.
    • On the "Contacts" tab, tap Add contact and pick a contact.
See information
  1. On a locked screen, swipe up.
  2. Tap Emergency.
  3. Tap Emergency information.
  4. When Emergency information flashes, tap it again.
