How to take a screenshot or record your screen on your Google Pixel phone

You can take a picture (screenshot) or record a video of your Pixel phone's screen. After you capture your screen, you can view, edit, and share the image or video.

Important: Some of these steps work only on Android 11 and up. Learn how to check your Android version.

How to take a Google Pixel screenshot

  1. Open the screen that you want to capture.
  2. Press the Power and Volume down buttons at the same time.
  3. Your phone will take a picture of the screen and save it.
  4. At the bottom left, you'll find a preview of your screenshot.

Take a scrolling screenshot

Important: These steps work on phones running Android 12 and up, on most screens that allow you to scroll.
  1. Open the screen that you want to capture.
  2. Press the Power and Volume down buttons at the same time.
  3. At the bottom, tap Capture more.
  4. To select the content you want to capture, use the crop guidelines.

Take a screenshot without buttons

Depending on your navigation, you can take a screenshot without buttons. Learn how to change your navigation.

  • Gesture navigation: From the bottom of the screen, swipe up and hold. Choose an open app to screenshot.  Tap Screenshot .
  • 3-button navigation: Tap Overview . Choose an open app to screenshot.   Tap Screenshot 
  • 2-button navigation (Pixel 3a & earlier): Press the Power button. Tap Screenshot .

How to find, share & edit your Google Pixel screenshot

To find a screenshot you just took, at the bottom left, tap the preview of your screenshot.

How to find all your screenshots

  1. Open your phone's Photos app Photos.
  2. Tap Library And then Screenshots.
    • To share a screenshot, tap Share Share.
    • To edit a screenshot, tap Edit Edit.

To share a screenshot, find it and tap Share Share.

How to edit your screenshot

  1. Find your screenshot in your phone's Photos app Photos
  2. Tap Edit Edit.

How to translate your screenshot (Pixel 3 & later)

Important: You can only translate screenshots in these languages:

  • Chinese
  • French
  • German
  • Hebrew
  • Hindi
  • Italian
  • Japanese
  • Korean
  • Portuguese
  • Spanish
  1. On your Android phone or tablet, go to the website or app you want to translate.
  2. Take a screenshot. Learn how to take a screenshot.
  3. Open the Google Photos app Photos.
  4. Select the screenshot you want to translate, then tap Lens  and then Translate.

How to record your Google Pixel screen

  1. Swipe down twice from the top of your screen.
  2. Tap Screen record .
    • You might need to swipe right to find it.
    • If it's not there, tap Edit and drag Screen record to your Quick Settings.
  3. Choose what you want to record and tap Start. The recording begins after the countdown.
  4. To stop recording, swipe down from the top of the screen and tap the Screen recorder notification .

Find screen recordings

  1. Open your phone's Photos app Photos.
  2. Tap Library and then Movies.
