How to take a screenshot or record your screen on your Google Pixel phone

You can take a picture (screenshot) or record a video of your Pixel phone's screen. After you capture your screen, you can view, edit, and share the image or video. Learn how to take a screenshot with our step-by-step tutorial.

Important: Some of these steps work only on Android 11 and up. Learn how to check your Android version.

How to take a Google Pixel screenshot

  1. Open the screen that you want to capture.
  2. Press the Power and Volume down buttons at the same time.
  3. Your device will take a picture of the screen and save it.
  4. At the bottom left, you'll find a preview of your screenshot.

Tip: You can also say, "Hey Google, take a screenshot" to capture your screen.

Take a scrolling screenshot

Important: These steps work on devices running Android 12 and up, on most screens that allow you to scroll.
  1. Open the screen that you want to capture.
  2. Press the Power and Volume down buttons at the same time.
  3. At the bottom, tap Capture more.
  4. To select the content you want to capture, use the crop guidelines.

Take a screenshot without buttons

Depending on your navigation, you can take a screenshot without buttons.

  • Gesture navigation: From the bottom of the screen, swipe up and hold. Choose an open app to screenshot. Tap Screenshot .

  • 3-button navigation: Tap Overview . Choose an open app to screenshot. Tap Screenshot .

How to find, share, and edit your screenshot

To find a screenshot you just took, tap the preview of your screenshot.

How to find all your screenshots

  1. Open the Photos app Photos.
  2. Tap Library And then Screenshots.
    • To share a screenshot, tap Share Share.
    • To edit a screenshot, tap Edit Edit.

To share a screenshot, find it and tap Share Share.

  1. Find your screenshot in the Photos app Photos
  2. Tap Edit Edit.

How to translate your screenshot (Pixel 3 & later, including Fold)

Important: You can only translate screenshots in these languages:

  • Chinese
  • French
  • German
  • Hebrew
  • Hindi
  • Italian
  • Japanese
  • Korean
  • Portuguese
  • Spanish
  1. On your device, go to the website or app you want to translate.
  2. Take a screenshot.
  3. Open the Google Photos app Photos.
  4. Select the screenshot you want to translate, then tap Lens and then Translate.

How to record your screen

  1. Swipe down from the top of your screen.
  2. Tap Screen record .
    • You might need to swipe right to find it.
    • If it's not there, tap Edit and drag Screen record to your Quick Settings.
  3. Choose what you want to record and tap Start. The recording begins after the countdown.
    • You can choose whether to record audio and show touches on the screen before you start.
  4. To stop recording, swipe down from the top of the screen and tap the Screen recorder notification .

Find screen recordings

  1. Open the Photos app Photos.
  2. Tap Library and then Movies.
