Black vertical line developed on my screen recently. Is there any way to fix this?

Recently a black vertical line has developed on my Pixel Book. Power washing the device has not gotten rid of this, and the device is a few weeks out of warranty. Is there any way to fix this?

Update: In May the black vertical line became a column. If I had to guess I'd say it took up roughly 15% of the screen width.

Update2: Google did eventually replace the device when they determined the flaw was not due to mishandling the device.

You should contact Pixelbook Support ASAP, even if it is a few weeks out of warranty.

Hi Jeffery,

That is a shame. I had a vertical red line on my Chromebook Pixel 2012 that disappeared by itself after a day or two.

Please power off and see if a quick Hardware Reset fixes this.

Black Horizontal bar developed across the lower half of my screen.

My Pixelbook started this out of the blue today. This flickering bar is present on extended displays, just the internal display screen.
My Pixelbook too is also out of warranty by several months and the distressing part is I have always taken very careful care of it, keeping it in pristine condition.
This seems behavior seems to have made the BlueTooth work intermittently as well.
I have a google support case started & hope, think this kind of failure should not happen to a 2-year-old device.
Anyone else know of a similar display failure?

You can try a hardware reset aka hard reset, which reboots the EC that controls video and other peripheral components.

Thank you but been there, done that.

Note the lower 1/2 of the screen. That band flickers and is somewhat darker than shown.
So it really seems to be a hardware failure. Additionally, BlueTooth connectivity seems to be affected in that my mouse connection is intermittently interrupted.
This is very disappointing in that I love this Pixelbook and it is just over two years old and as I have stated taken very careful care of it.
I realize many people state that they are gentle with their Pixelbooks and so forth.
I contend that the vast majority of us truly are careful, gentle users of our google products rightly expecting this premium product to last hardware-wise far longer than just two years.

My family have been using Google products starting with Nexus, Nexux5, PixelXL, Pixel3XL, Pixel4XL, ChromeCast & Home & Home-Mini. That should count for something having faith in the Google product line.

I would much rather get this thing fixed & useable than toss it into recycling...

If you've done the hardware reset, settings reset, and device recovery, as far as I know you're out of options:-(
