The mobile version of Google maps now does this nicely.  I'm not sure why they still haven't added it to the desktop version.

Don't you mean "The (new) mobile version of Google Photos"?
You find the map under the "Search" tab.

Good afternoon.

You can definitely see all of your pictures on the map (the ones that have GPS metadata anyway), but you have to do that with Google Maps.

From the Google Maps website, choose "Your Places" from the sidebar menu on the left. Then choose "MAPS" at the top of the column. You'll see your other personal maps if you've previously created any. At the bottom of the column choose the link "Create Map."

You'll then have a new tab with an Untitled Map. Click the "Import" button below the first Untitled Layer. A box will open where you can choose from Upload, Google Drive, or Photo Albums. Obviously, you'd pick Photo Albums here. Then you can scroll through your albums and pick the one containing the pictures you'd like to see on the map.

Regards,
~ Greg

I want to open a map, go to a location, and see the photos I took there. Or open photos, go to photo, find the location of that photo, and find other photos I took there. Nope. Not a feature.

I am always amazed when I think of a feature that should exist. Then I go looking for it. And then I can't find it. And then I google it. And I find a discussion thread, sometimes years-and-years old, in which someone else is asking for the feature. And it doesn't exist. And Google doesn't join or help in these forums, because they don't really support their products, they leave it up to 'community experts' and then the thread always ends with, "You can suggest a feature..." bla bla bla.

And so it is with this feature.

Note that if you add photos to My Maps using the "add layer" approach in the recommended answer above, you will run into a limit in the number of layers you can have.

You can only have 10 layers in a map in My Maps.

Since each layer aligns with an album,  I have to shift away from aligning layers to specific trip albums.
Now I will build "decade" albums, each will have a few key photos from trips during that decade. (Perhaps I'll build half decade albums -- not sure yet.)

It takes a LOT of effort to manually tag older photos with exact locations, so most of the work is in tagging photos prior to 2005, then building these albums. Pulling the photos into My Maps is easy.

This is the only way I can figure out how to have one Google map show all the places I've visited.

Very happy with the new photos view. Thanks to the team that designed and implemented it!

Maybe you guys are up to the challenge of improving Android's back button! :D

Hi,

I checked my Google photo app on iOS but there is no map function. Is this only available in US?

The map feature is great on Mobile.  Please add it to the desktop browser experience.  It's so frustrating when the base components (Google Maps & Google Photos) are there and are both so good.

please add map feature to Web version of Google Photos. having it in the app is fine, but it's not usable for any serious work
