how to write or draw on photos in Google Photos

Photos in Google Photos seem to have very little editing ability, especially on Moto G6

I use Snapseed, another free app by Google. Once you install the app, you can open it from within Google Photos with the 3-dot menu, Edit In ... or the grid icon. Here is a sample of how to use it. This link takes you to a particular time in a longer YouTube video - watch for about 5 minutes. Another app would be PicsArt

There is no way to do that in Photos.

I prefer to use Photoshop for such purpose. or Pixlr. Forst of all, I can use different fonts such as https://fontsly.com/fancy/fire-ice. I appreciate how Google works and many extensions and add-ions are really briliant. But I think that editing graphic content such as phot is better to do in specialized tools.

You can add text in Snapseed, you cannot draw unfortunately. The text have some options, but is incomplete, the text box is not that easy to manipulate, we'll is a free app with other loads of futures.

I use sketch to draw lines.

It is unfortunate that Google photos the main app for photos in Android system doesn't have this options as I use for work an iPhone this can be done quickly and efficiently directly from the photo app of it.

Hope Google is thinking to bring this great futures with Photos in the next updates.

I love google but drawing and adding text are really basic features. I don't understand why these are not available in google photos. I don't want to have to download another app for something I don't need all the time. Come on google, you're better than this!

You are right. I came here looking how to draw on a photo in Snapseed and all I found is other ppl can't do it either. Get it sorted Google!

You can try using a desktop program which is known as "Apowersoft Watermark Remover". Even though the tool name implies as a remover tool, you can also add text on it or even another image. It is free, so you just need to download it from its official site.

Would be so great if we could just draw on an image or blur stuff out straight from the mobile app or the web interface. Really missing this feature a lot!
