Introducing the Updates page

Announcement
Hi everyone!

We are introducing Updates, a new destination in the Photos app that makes catching up on new activity easier than ever. Whether you receive a new shared album, someone adds new photos to a shared album, you receive new photos from your partner, or someone replies to you in a conversation, you can find it all in Updates. You can access Updates by tapping on the [bell icon/button], which replaces the Sharing button.

Always up to date
The Updates page is chronologically organized, and you can view your incoming activity from today, yesterday, this week, this month, last month, and beyond. We want to streamline how you can view recent activity with an interface that makes albums, groups, and conversations more accessible. We have also added shortcuts for each activity so you can access albums and conversations, all under one roof.

Collaboration and connection
With this new feature, fostering collaboration and connection becomes effortless. You will get notified whenever there is a new interaction with your content. You can find the following in the Updates page:
  • Updates to a shared album
  • Updates to a conversation
  • Updates to a group conversation
  • Partner sharing updates
  • Memory updates
  • Storage updates
Access shared albums from Collections
You may have also noticed that when Updates replaced Sharing in the Google Photos app, shared albums are mixed with conversations and other activities. You can now easily access your shared albums through the Collections page.

Find your conversations
You’ll get notified when there is new activity in your conversations, like when someone adds you to an existing conversation or when you receive new photos. You can access your conversations anytime through notifications and Updates. If you want to view all of your conversations, you can find them through Photos settings, which is also accessible through the Menu in Updates.

The Updates page is starting to roll out now to all users in the Android and iOS Google Photos app. If you can’t find the Updates page yet, check back over the coming weeks.

Thanks,
Google Photos Team
